How long have you had your TL Type S for...
Ive been reading on this forum for a few years now and have seen many members come and go and people inquiring about buying a type s. Its crazy to think that I bought my type s almost 3 years ago and paid 25,200 with 90,000 kms. Now I see all these posts about the tls going for a fair chunk under 20!
I know The US is a little different than Canada but its still a big price difference and it is a few years. Im personally thinking about switching out to a new car in December when mine is paid off. Ive done everything I want to the car and am getting kind of bored with it!!! Its gorgeous, but its getting older and im seeing soooo many of them out there now.
Who here feels the same. ALSOO who here has upgraded from the type s and what did you get. I have a few options in mind as of what Id like to get next.
It will be hard to let the type s go but its not as special to me anymore. Im just wayy to used to it

I've had my car for almost 3 years and still love it. Can't think of any other car I would replace it with that is as comfortable and looks as good. I see a lot of TL's, but I hardly see Type-S's and I NEVER see a modded TL.
Not sure what your financial situation is, but personally I can't wait to not have a car payment. I'm about to hit 60k miles and I see guys over 200k so I am planning on keeping my car for a long time.
Only thing I would want to upgrade to would be a GT-R or IS-F and currently is out of my price range, so TL-S it is.

in two months it'll be two years for me! bought it for 25k with only 54,000kms.
I been wanting something new too, starting to get bored.
but with the way finances go, it's either gonna be a GTR or a down payment on a house, the house is winning, I know my TL is MINT and there's no reason for me to let it go

I bought my type s for 32k with 4 miles on it back in 2008, paid it off 18 months later, and I have loved every second of it. I still get compliments everywhere I go and it doesn't feel or look like a 5 year old car. I plan on running this thing until it dies, hopefully not anytime soon.
Adding mods keeps the car fresh in my opinion, and I have only seen 2 other modded TLs in San Diego, so I don't feel they are really common but I feel they may be back east.
The c63 would be sick though! Keep us updated with your path to a new car!

I have owned mine for 78 days lol. Granted its just one of the few Type S's I have had so I'm not necessarily new to the car. For some reason I always go back to the TL and that's even after owning some other pretty nice cars. IMO there really is no other car that looks as good, can be used on a daily year round basis, and costs the same as the Type S.
I completely under the OP about getting so used to the car because you have had it for a good amount of time, but no matter how old it gets its a great looking car with styling that is timeless.
The only thing I don't really understand is your comment about seeing them all over the place. The Type S has been out of production now for years so its not like your seeing more because more are being built, infact they should be getting less common from cars being wrecked and whatever other reasons. Seeing a Type S is a pretty rare thing and when I do it's a treat each time. That's one thing I like about them.

12 years of driving has coincided with me owning 11 cars, so I tend to go thru them. However, the longest stints were 18 months in an Acura Vigor, 3 years in my 05 A-Spec TL, and now I'm 22 months into my TL-S.
Between my TLs, I had a 2011 Nissan Maxima, fully loaded. By all accounts, it was the "nicest" car I've ever had. But no matter how many times I told myself that, it just never felt like me, I just couldn't get attached to it. I went from waxing my car many times a year to waxing the Maxima once in the 11 months I owned it. It was much more just a car to me.
Obviously now that I'm back in a TL, and the Type S I always wanted, I'm much happier and excited to look at it. The mods I've done have really made it my own. I sometimes think about getting something never and nicer, but then I think back to the Maxima and realize I don't really need all those creature comforts Any "upgrade" that I would really want would be north of $50K I'm sure, and I'm just not interested in spending that much on a car yet.
And on the topic of purchase price and miles, 2 years ago mine was $25,200 with 17K miles on it. Just this week I turned 38K, so I have loads of life left in it.

I can't tell the last time I saw a fully kitted out 07 08 type s in my area.
And to answer the originAl question. I've owned my for just 1.5 years. I do ffeel the complacency coming on but I view this as a good thing.
It just means that I won't have as much reservations when it comes to modding since I don't see it as a "new" car anymore.

3 years now.
I'm the worst kind of person when it comes to cars. I constantly switch on what I want.
At the moment, it is the E92 M3 with the competition package or the new Stingray.
Edit: that said, if Acura ever released another Type-S...done.

RLTW!!
Purchased my 2007 Kinetic Blue Pearl TL Type S on November 10, 2007, now has 43,400 miles. Will be replacing original brakes and tires in the next couple of months. Running great and no major issues.

I have 04 bought 7 months ago with 102,000 miles now 110,400, did the 105,000 service
maintenance and 3/4 pressure switches/ 3X3 trans flush. Now I'm modding with no end
in sight. But I kinda agree with the OP that after a while things can get stale and uninteresting. That's why I have another vehicle which is a truck that tows the dirt bike. IMO variety in life keeps things fresh and fun. JM 2cents

'07 TL Type-S
Over a year. It was a year back in April. Bought it with 52,000 miles on it and it's just under 65,000 miles now. I'm pretty content with it. I've had my eye on getting an s4 or s5 for a while now, but I've been smart enough to hold off. I really do love this car and judging by the guys who have posted that have high mileage TL's, it'll be a car that can last for a while. So I'm hoping to keep it maybe as a second car when I finally do decide to upgrade or maybe give it to a family member. But so far it's given me no reason to want to get rid of it.

Three Wheelin'
I too bought it new the summer of 2008. Now it has 39,000 miles. I had to get it in to the dealer yesterday, my HFL unit malfunctioned and drained the battery over the long weekend. Other than that, and a drive shaft/axle seal, I've had no issues with it.

November will be 4 years. I bought it as a CPO with 13k on the odometer on it: currently has 48.2K on it. Best car I have ever owned one upping my 04 TL

Just about hit the one year mark. put over 20k miles on and no complaints so far (at 90k now). Prior to the TL, I had a 2k Maxima that I drove to the ground. probably do the same with the TL. I'd rather keep a good car around than sell it. still drive my silverado which has over 300k miles on it

I've had my TL-S since it was new in 06, 125,000 on her and still going strong. I have been thinking of selling her cause I want a truck and even took some pictures today but I can't bear to. Also I can't really find a good price, the KBB seems low since its a 6 speed.

08 TL type-S
Only 1 month ago I bought my TL- type S (2008) 6 - speed with Acura A-spec kit. $19,000 with 70,000 miles. I really like the car , see other TL's from 3rd generation around, but not any type S's. I am adjusting to it from my Civic Si.

I purchased my TL-S about 3 months ago. Before that I owned a base TL 2nd gen for four years. My only disappointment with my KBP TL-S is that its not 6speed. Other than that I love it. I wouldn't give it up for the world. I don't plan on doing a lot of mods to it, wanting to keep an almost stock look. I love the fact that I dont own a Camry or Impala [or anything domestic for that matter] like every other Tom, Dick and Harry. Type S really stick out and are few and far between here in KY.
good luck with your decision weather or not to keep the type s

I love my TL-S. I very rarely see any on the streets. TI've had mine for 6 years now and it still runs great. The only thing I regret is that it was my first car so there are definitely some parts of it I could've taken care of.

Negative 2 days! I'm picking up my 2008 WDP TL-S this Sunday after making the purchase last Saturday. If I haven't taken delivery, it doesn't count as having it right . I can't wait to have it in my hands, I've been eyeing the 3G since it came out in '04 and damn glad to have found a clean one.
