Question How long?

How long does it take for the HID bulbs to change colors. I have a 04 TL and the bulb went out. Needless to say Acura claimed they couldnt tell if it was the bulb or the other parts of the HID system to determine the faliure. So I had to replace the whole unit which was almost $900. The lights when I first turn them on is blue, but when it warms up the replaced unit gets almost a dingy white...I hate it, its not the same color as the other head light and its pretty noticable. How many hours does it take for the system to adjust to the proper color. Mind you the whole system is new, its 3 parts i cant remember all the components involved. The dealer claims like 12hrs or something like that. Ive had it longer than that...I'd say about a month since the change out.

I think regardless of the "hardware" (i.e. ballast, wires, whatever) being changed out, you need to replace HID bulbs in pairs otherwise they will never match... Apparently the lights change color over time, if one bulb is further along (older) than the other (new) bulb, the colors will never match.

Unfortunately now... You've burned in a single "new" bulb?

Because.

Depending on length of time you've used the "new" bulb, you might need to buy 2 new ones to get the color match and basically scrap the original "new" bulb?

The color slightly changes with time. You can probably just buy one new one to replace the older one?

Purchase a new bulb and use the old one as back-up...that could work.
