Hi ... I used the search function and can't seem to find and DIY on installing side Markers...
I just bought some type-S sides and wondering how to install those.

Rear,
Remove side trunk liner.
Squeeze the two clips at the sides of the marker & pull it out away from the car on the outside.
Disconnect wire plug.
Plug wire into new light
Press light into the hole in body till clips engage
Replace side trunk liner.
About a 10 minute job.

You don't even have to fully remove the side trunk liner..only go as far as the section that fits around the trunk lid hinge.
There will be enough room to get your hand in to release the clips...everthing else is done from out side the car.

My fronts will just pop off if from the outside ... get a fingernail under the front and back edge and GENTLY apply pressure out ... they release easier than the rears since there is no foam gasket around them. I remove them anytime the car gets polished or waxed. There's plenty of slack in the wiring to pull the marker out, unplug and plug back in.

Which did you buy?
Did you buy OEM Type-S rear side markers? Where did you get them? I have been on eBay and have seen several diff ones. Not sure if I should replace all 4 with a clear lens(not OEM) or just get the 2 rear side markers.???
Thanks for suggestions and info. J.D.
