How hard to install OEM body kit on 05 TL?

The local dealer will sell it to me for $799 but wants $450 to install it. I'm going to check to see what my mechanic will charge but before I do I just want to know if it's easy to do myself; just bolt on.

Slide, then pull.

But you probably know that *now*. We learned the hard way too.

Thanks for the instructions unfortunately it may be more than I want to tackle. I would be so afraid to make a mistake it would take me several days. Also, with 7 month old twins I barely have time to sit. Any thoughts on what body shops would charge?

Ahh yeah, slide then pull on the side skirts. Otherwise get some extra clips for the side skirts. Bearcat and I know now after I bought four new clips at 4 dollars a pop...

I just got my kit today at the dealership. Bargained my kit down to 799. The dealership wanted 879. Told him i only have 800 cash in my pocket. Changed some numbers in the computer and then gave me the discount. Thought i just go ahead and buy it local so that i can have it right away instead of going through online.

Anyhow, they wanted to install my kit for 269 at the dealership. I said hell to this and brought the kit home. Started the side installation first and it too me two hours total. Funny thing is that the 2nd side skirt took me 10minutes to pull out and put in new one:-) Got dark so i had to stop.

Cant wait to put on the front/back tomorrow. Imagine it should be easy now, since the direction/manual that the guy printed out for me was very straight forward. I am glad i did not go through paying the enormous fee for the install.

Good luck and dont be afraid to DIY for anybody that wants the kit. If i can do it, anyone can:-)

i didn't think i wanted to do it either, but i found that after i installed the front lip, i could do the rest.. the only hard part is finding the markings on the inside of the rear bumper.

I am having mine installed on my 2006 TL. I asked on Dec 24th at 8am if the person installing it was trained for installing A-Spec body kits, they responded "Oh Yes" somebody who has done it b4 will be installing it. Anyway the install is $322 total. I was going to try it myself, but the cold ass weather made it impossable. The car has to be warm to install, and also be warm for 24 hours afterwards for the glue on the 2 sided stickyback to cure fully.

I got a call at 2pm on Dec 24th from Acura, " We drilled the holes in the rear bumper in the wrong place" The rear bumper has to be taken off to drill holes from behind..

Anyway they have the part(entire new rear bumper) BUT it has to be painted. It will be ready sat Jan 3rd 2009. 10 Friken days instead of 4 hours. I have 6 mods to do to it, I took this WHOLE WEEK OFF to do these mods in my brothers garage. WTF ACURA, THANKS ALOT.

That begs the question ... why didn't you just do this in his garage?

I really couldnt get the temp high enough. I can get it nice to work in with my beater snowmobile suit on, but not 65 degrees thats needed. Plus after seeing the instructions and having to take the rear bumper off I decided to pay $300 for the install. The morning I brought it in, it was 9 degrees here.

If I could have used somebodys nice well lit heated garage I would have.

I'm located in South Jersey (Atco, NJ). The only major landmark is the Atco Raceway. Most people think of Cherry Hill when they hear South Jersey, which I'm about 15 minutes away from.

I would like help to get them installed, but I'm sure like many of you you just wouldn't let anyone work on your car. I would really need to feel comfortable that the person is knowledgable on how to install the kit. Thanks again for all the help!!!

as long as you have the right tools, templates, and time, you will be fine. It's good to have a friend there to help align them.
