how do you keep that new car smell?
My TL is my first new car, I want it to look new as long as possible. How do you maintain that new car smell? is there some secret? i would like to know!
(not driving it would not be an option cause i love it too much!)

Keep the car cool and out of the sun as much as possible. That will keep the chemicals from volatilizing (evaporating) quickly.
Clean the surfaces inside the car as little as possible, especially with cleaners. That will remove some of the chemicals on the surface, as well as create its own smell.
Keep the windows up and sunroof closed when parked.
Keep competing smells out. Over time, as you know, new car smell will slowly go away, just like new carpet smell in a house. Lots of carcinogens, no doubt, that would kill a mouse if you forced it to eat all of it.
Basically, do the same things you'd do if you had an open container of gasoline or some other volatile liquid in the back seat, and wanted it to evaporate as slowly as possible.

The new car smell is great. I do enjoy it but here is a list of other scents I also do enjoy:
* Prestone carpet cleaner for cars
* Armorall leather conditioner
* My Shalden air fresheners - Everybody always asks me where I get it![Big Grin](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
As mentioned above, keep your car running cool and don't bring to-go boxes/fast food bags or anything that will counter the new car smell you so desire.

My '99 Toyota Solara SLE V6 (28,000 miles) with leather interior still has "new car smell", especially when the interior is warm.
I keep the car in my garage, windows and moonroof closed when not in use. I don't eat in the car, and I condition the leather occasionally.
BTW, I'm on the TL forum because I plan to replace my '93 Camry V6 XLE in the next 6-12 months. The TL is on my short list of possible replacements. The list also includes the Camry and G35 sedan. The forum is very informative and is helping push me closer to the TL.
