How do you keep the headrest down?
I have what may be a unique problem, but considering how many people use this site, and genuinely want to help, perhaps someone will have an idea for me. Or perhaps my problem may not be that unique after all.
I am relatively short (about 5'9), and relatively stocky (about 280.) I am most comfortable with the TL's headrest in its lowest position, as close to the seat back as it gets. My problem is that somehow as I drive I manage to force the headrest up, since it does not lock down. (You must use the unlock button to lower but not to raise the headrest.) My girlfriend thinks that I am somehow raising it with my shoulders or back, as I push against the back of the seat.
This is actually a semi-significant problem, as on long drives I wind up having to either deal with the headrest in a very uncomfortable position, or attempt to lower it while driving, which is both difficult and dangerous.
Is anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions as to how to solve it?
Thanks!

I have never heard of this problem. Does this happen to your passenger seat as well? Try sitting in your passenger seat for a few mins and see if it does the same thing. Perhaps your head is pushing it up

Thanks for the reply.
I am 99.9% certain that the headrest is operating properly. It's just that this "proper operation" is incovenient for the way I apparently sit/move/etc. while driving.

I have the same problem. I have a long torso and when I get something out of my pocket or move around in the seat I push up the headrest. It is Very easy to do and their is little resistance. I wish there was a way to secure it in the down position.
Also the headrests on the 04 TL are so big that they can obstruct one's view of the blind spot during lane changes. The 00 TL had smaller headrests and they didn't ride up.

Have you tried to rotate the headrest a little? Your head will hit a different spot on it if you rotate and then maybe you won't be putting enough pressure on it to cause it to move at a different angle.

I dunno if this is relevant and very true but once I read somewhere that Head Rest is not actually an "head rest" but a restraining for your neck to restrict harmful movement backwards in case of an impact and that driver or passangers should not rest their head on the head rest. So if the headrest is moving upwards with your natural movements I think it is for good and should be aligned with the head and not neck.

Another thing you may want to try is adjusting the seat back either forward or backward a bit. If it is in fact your head or shoulder, you may want to try changing the position or place they hit the seat. Just a though.

Thanks very much for the replies. I was pleased to see that I am not the only person experiencing this. Perhaps the suggestions several of you made may help several of us.
Thanks again!
