How to do "Independent Fogs" on '07-'08 with stock halogens? (NOT HID's)
I've been wanting to do the independent fog mod so I am able to turn my fog lights on without having my headlights turned on, but I can't seem to find a "DIY" for it.
The only one I found is this one
DIY: '07-'08 3G TL Independent HID Fog Lights WITH Stock Switch - https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ndependent+fog
but those are for HID fogs. Requires a HID harness and HID ballast along with bulbs..
My Hoen Endurance bulbs just came in and I want to modify the fog light switch so I'm able to turn on my fog lights while my headlights are turned off.
Is this possible to do? I've seen 04-06 TLs buy the accord fogs and wired it up independently, but my car is a 2008 with foglights from the factory.
People who bought the accord fogs used the accord harness and did something to make it independent, while my 08 has it stock and I really don't know what to do to make it work independently. Can anyone help?

Haha!! I just decided yesterday that I want to do this too.
Here's what I'm thinking (but I'm an idiot electrically and don't know how to do it):
- Add an independent fog switch in the open slot next to the VSA switch.
- Wire that switch directly to the fog connetor and an ignition power source. (I assume if it's an ignition switched source the fogs will not remain on when the car is turned off.)
- Use that switch to run fogs with parking lights or no lights.
For example, something like this:

I'm in. I also have a Type S and have the Accord fog kit, but never found the time or the effort necessary to take on the project, so this may just be the opportunity I was looking for.

OK. So who's the electrical whiz who's going to do the Paint-By-Numbers kit?

Beatcat is on the right track!
How I wire accord fog lights independently is just tap into the the wiper motor wire as a source of constant power for the accord fog switch.

Btw Accord fog switch matches so nicely.

Also, FWIW, the part number for the Accord Fog Light Switch:
Pretty sure this is it:
08V31-SDN-1M035 FOGLIGHT SWITCH $20.60 $14.42

After reading some threads and looking at parts diagrams, here's what I think:
- We already have the "Fog Light Kit" installed. That means we don't need the Fog Wiring Harness, but we do want to tap into that.
- We need to add a switch that will "bypass" the existing switch wiring (from the stalk).
I think the way to do that is:
- Get a switch (08V31-SDN-1M035), a Switch Harness (08V31-SDA-10030) and a Relay (39795-SB2-003 ?? or 39796-SX0-003 ??) and an In-Line Fuse.
- Mount the Switch and attach the Switch Harness.
- Run that to the Relay and mount the Relay.
- On the "out board" side of the Switch Harness and/or Relay, tap into the existing Fog Light Harness.
- Add an in-line fuse.
- Tap into an Ignition Switched Power Source.
What I don't know:
- Which wires to tap from/tap in to between the new Switch Harness/Relay and the existing Fog Light Harness.
- Which side of the Relay the Power Source attaches to.
- Where the in-line fuse attaches.
- Other stuff that I don't know, but don't know that I don' know. Yet.

This is possible. I saw a black 08 type s for sale a few weeks ago that had independent HALOGEN fogs. I already have the HID independent fogs so I had no interest in asking how he did it.....but there is a way.
Just giving you guys some hope.

I also tought about doing this next spring ![Smile](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
What if we could find a way to use Roger555 DIY?
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...2633&highlight
All we would need to find is the 07-08 fog relay location (vs 04-06) and we would be able to use the stock switch/wiring.

I think that might work - without, as Roger noted, all the extra switches and relays and whatnot.
I need to read the rest of the thread to see if anyone with an '07/'08 has done it or found any minor differences, but it looks very promising (and pretty easy).

I've included a link to the original factory provided installation instruction for the fog lights on the Accord. Perhaps this can be utilized as a source of reference. I would imagine the Accord and the TL share many parts, so the relay as well as other electrical components may be similar if not the same. Maybe even in the same location? I'll see what I can come up with too.

jauman sent me this:

I think he's working on writing a DIY that is a combination of what Roger555 and what donnieb did. We've traded a couple of emails; I think this is very doable and sounds like it will be pretty simple.

Ok, jauman has the DIY up here: 07-08 Acura TL DIY Fog light Mod
I'm going to close this thread since it was mostly ideas and speculation.
If someone thinks something should be moved from here to the DIY thread, send me a PM.
