How to convince your wife
that SUVs are the worst things ever created by mankind
I am giving her my newly acquired 08 TL to drive for a month in order for her to see the huge difference to her 02 CRV (which I am painfully driving now)
After 1 week of driving, she is still not getting it
Should I just give up early and take my TL back - or could there be any hope?

Weird, I want my wife to get an SUV and she won't, hates them. I kinda miss my SUV, best blend of having a truck and a sedan, but not as good as either for most things. I kinda miss my 450HP Trailblazer SS, blew the doors off my TL in every regard except MPG lol. My buddy had a 99 CRV, it was painfully slow, but cheap, reliable, and got through practically everything.

Sedans, SUVs, armored tanks.....they all have their niche. I'd say you drive what you want, she drives what she wants, and then, Mr. Happy gets to drive where he wants.

Just curious, why do you have to convince your wife to not like SUV's? If that's what she likes let her keep it. I wouldn't be a fan of a CRV by any means, but in addition to my TLS, I have a 2012 Grand Cherokee Overland and its friggin amazing!

What's so bad about a CRV? I could understand one's desire to move from a big SUV that gets sucky MPG to a more economical sedan but that isn't what's going on here. The CRV probably gets better MPG (in the city anyway) than a TL. My Wife has a Pilot and prefers that to the TL. Women like being in a taller vehicle and are thus attracted to SUVs now that they have all the creature comforts of regular cars. You will have a challenge- I suggest getting the TL back because you are likely wasting your time.
What's the motivation? I'm sensing you want another car and wish to dump the CRV.

People just like what they like. My wife had a Suzuki Forenza and then got rid of it to get her Nissan Rogue. She loves my TL, when she gets to drive it, but really likes having an SUV and being a little higher up so she can see.
Since I'm personally a car guy, I don't mind her having an SUV for when we need to transport larger items and the backseats need to go down (a feature the TL is sorely lacking). Or cart other people around so they don't have to cram in my back seat and possibly cause me to rub. I say let her have a SUV and when it's time to get another one upgrade to a more luxury type SUV like the MDX, RDX, or Nissan Murano. My wife is looking into a Murano when her current lease is up.

People get used to what they like, my gf loved her Blazer and she refused to look at cars for a while.
Let your wife drive what she wants to, otherwise she won't be happy.
Unhappy drivers lead to unsafe drivers.

My wife wants to drive a SUV because they're higher and 'let her see over traffic' She's driven my TL and a newer TL auto. While she appreciated them I think I'd see her in a RDX etc before I see her in a TL. Maybe if gas get bad enough she'll give up the SUV habit. However I know it is a choice she is going to have to make on her own or she'll resent me every single day she has to drive a car she didn't get to choose.

Let her get what she wants. Using logic and reason on a woman is a lost cause.
Mine likes her Murano and now I like her driving the Murano. She hits enough curbs and potholes that if it were the TL or most other cars it would have body, rim, and suspension damage. Tall tires and extra ground clearance can save you money.

just get her a RDX turbo, she will be happy by still driving an SUV meanwhile you still can enjoy the fun that turbo has to offer. RDX isn't amazingly quick but they can move especially considering the weight it has, I drove my buddy RDX like it but not love it. And for my wife she pretty happy if she drive my TL since she driving a 98 Civic DX so its a huge change for her, I laugh when she driving my car and someone call my phone and she has no clue how to pick the phone up via HFL.

Just let her drive the SUV.
My wife drives my 2007 Toyota 4Runnner (V8 AWD) which I really miss.
Like others she likes the TL on occasion, but she likes the 4 Runner better because she sits higher and carts around 2 kids.

Just be happy she isn't pushing for a mini van instead.

My wife used to love driving my TL....till we bought her an Equinox. Now she despises driving my TL since she absolutely loves her SUV. If she wants an SUV, give her an SUV. If you want a SUV that isn't slow and a turd to drive, buy one that has enough HP. We bought an Equinox Sport which has more HP than the TL, sits a tad lower than most SUV, and most of all....keeps the wife happy.

women lack (relatively) spacial recognition so they need a relative point when determining a distance between objects and the front bumper.
for the men out there, we have two eyes. use them.
will you be my husband?
no homo
i wanna put 235 55 or 60 R15 on TL on long road tripsoh that'd be a cheap winter rim size......

Another vote for getting her whatever she wants. Hopefully it won't be as bad as one of my exes that wanted a yellow Escape. Keep in mind that you'll be seen driving it sometimes. I drew the line when she wanted to trade cars with me. Blacked out Range Rover for a yellow Escape? Not a chance, devil woman.
My seat is tilted up in the front for leg support. Not a chick.

Glad that my woman hates driving trucks, SUV's, and vans because they're too big and clunky, and she wants something sporty that can fit through traffic more easily. Not gonna be buying any cars for a few years, but she can't decide between a TSX or a Genesis Coupe, and she says she wants to learn stick
