rofl I was just gonna suggest the same thing....you could try stoppign by an inspection station and ask if they will test it for you, they should have a meter that they can put on the window and read it

Yeah, what he said...

Make sure they calibrate it in front of you so you know it's working. The one i used had a 30% and 70% calibration glass. Good Luck

Any shop that does tinting should give you a good estimate by just looking at your windows

The reason I asked was because I saw the OP is from California, and we don't have inspections on our cars.

Im suprised that California with their strict emissions standards doesnt have an inspection program. Most states are modeling their emissions limits that they test for after Californias.

Civilized

...but FREE.

Florida doesn't have vehicle inspections either.

We used to. But they haven't made vehicles without emissions systems for about 30 years now.

How often do you see a smokey clunker these days? It wasn't worth the cost and the bother.

So, someone suggested they do away with the whole inspection apparatus and just issue grenade launchers to the cops.

The legislature bought half of the argument.

For emissions only we do have a test...
They shove a wand up your exhaust, load down your engine and test at a low speed and a high speed.
If you pass, you have two years before you have to do it again
If you fail, you are considered a gross polluter and from then on you have to go to a test only station every year

Years ago Calif had roadside inspections, but the state was sued several times because the inspectors didn't know what the heck they were doing....
