How bad is this?

I tried doing a search but did not answer my question.

Out of my stupidity and forgetfullness, me and my girlfriend were in my car reading some stuff and when we left and forgot to turn off the maplight. I didnt use my car for a day and a half when i figured out my battery died.

I was running late to pick up somebody at the airport so i didnt really have time to call acura roadside assistance so i ran back upstairs and got my property manager to give me a jump. Tried following the directions in the manual by grounding my negative, but the car wouldnt start, reconnected the cables and it still wouldnt start. Finally, the guy suggested doing a complete circuit where my negative cable went onto the negative terminal and it fired up.

Here is my question; I know the TL is filled with fancy electronics, just wondering if this will have a negative side effect from jumping it this way? Its been nagging me all day and i feel so bad for my baby.

Additionally, my XM wont update and can only play xm1 and some other news channel. Everytime i tried a preset, it will say "updating..." How can i correct this issue without taking it to the dealer? Thanks in advance!

jt,

I can't say anything about your XM issue, but jumping your car with all of the cables on the terminals did no damage to your car's electronics.

If everything seems to be working OK, then you should be fine. If you were gonna fry something it would have happened right away.

The XM thing: You should have been prompeted to enter your Radio Code. I assume you did this? If not, I *think* there were a couple of threads with a similar problem.
