Hottest Temperature
So I jumped in my car yesterday afternoon and the temperature display said 99 degrees, that’s the hottest that I have seen (I live in Michigan). What is the hottest temperature you all have seen on your cars display? Oh and does anyone know where the thermometer is located?

111 in Phoenix, AZ...don't know if anyone's going to beat that one (it wouldn't register anything when it was 115+ outside).

Some have reported it gets so hot the readout says, "---", mostly TX, AZ, etc - IIRC. Think that happens at 115 or 120.
Theres a thread in the 3G Garage (I think) on this.

If I ever see triple digits on mine I would be amazed. So I guess 113 takes it as the highest temp anyone has actually seen on the display. Thanks for the responses, its all for fun.
Anyone know where the thermometer is located?

110 in Dallas in the TL and I've seen up to 115 down here in other vehicles.
There's a difference between sustained temperatures (which is what I'm citing above) and the temparature that first shows when you crank the car which will generally be much higher due to stagnant, heated air around the thermometer.
I'd be interested to know where the thermometer is on the TL as well. I know some manufacturers put it in the side mirror housing or in the roof.

Here's the thread on location (front bumper) and the algorithm used to display temp:

I Live in AZ and I think our car stops reading temps at about 110 degrees. Then it reads --- as stated above. I know the tempurature here has been above 114 this year and my car did read ---

As I've stated before, the temperature sensor in the TL is behind the front bumper.
Its purpose is not to advise you on how to dress for the day. It is more of a safety than an informational feature. Its primary purpose is to let you know if the road surface is getting close to freezing.
Therefore, it reflects the road temperature (or the air close to the road surface).
The highest temperature ever recorded for South Florida is 99 degrees. We have never seen triple digits. That is historical fact. It's a myth that South Florida is too hot in the summer. But we residents like to perpetuate that myth so we can get a break from all the tourists for a few months a year.
Actually, the heat is more oppressive in the big cities of the Northeast in the summer. I have seen days on end of 100+ temps in NYC, Philly, Wash, etc.
At least in FL, everything is air conditioned: Homes, cars, shopping malls, work places..
But.... keep spreading the word: "Florida is hotter than Hell! Don't go there in the the summertime."

Because Acura puts their sensor close to the road, it gives us a clue as to their purpose. In the warm weather, it reads higher than it would if it were located, say, in the air intake for the ventilation system.
It's kind of irrelevant here in Florida, anyway.
