Homelink problem...WTF???

I know that there have been sporadic threads on this issue, but a "search" hasn't helped me find what I'm after...

I remember reading that some of us had very poor range on the Homelink system. I, for one, have to be within 10 feet of the garage door for the damned thing to work...meanwhile the Homelink buttons on my 99 CL 3.0 work from down the block!!!

Has anyone got any info? Was your problem fixed when you brought the car in for service? What was/is causing this???

Thanks in advance for any help.

Anthony

A couple of things you might try: 1) Make sure that the antenna on the opener unit is extended and hanging down, and 2) If that doesn't help, then take a length (about 3 feet long) of copper wire and attach it to the existing antenna on the unit and attach or staple it to the ceiling. Either should help.

The homelink system only replicates the transmitters signal and signal strength.
If you have to get right up on the garage try replacing the batteries in your garage door opener first and reprogram the homelink.
Also there is a bulletin for the homelink that the dealer will replace.
I can send you the actual bulletin from acura if you want.

One thing that you can try (using two people and fresh batteries) is to reprogram your Homelink from a greater distance away. You may have to chat with each other over cell phones to get the sequencing/button pushes right.

If you can get the TL & garage opener system to recognize each other from farther away during the progamming, the garage opener should also open at a greater distance.

Also, try and make sure that the antenna on the garage opener is straight and vertical.

I can open my garage from about 100 yards away.

Cheers!

Just recently... And only 2-3 times... The HomeLink simply did not work to open my garage door. Went inside and pushed button. Up she went. Next morning, no problem.... Homelink worked fine. I'm chalking it up to I DONT KNOW. I noticed the one time my neighbors door was in operation at the same time... PERHAPS, my opener or the HL got "confused"... I dunno... I've been keeping an eye on it...

Although for range... When it does work (which is 97% of the time...) my range to work is well over 100feet... I hit it on the road and its up by the time I'm ready to pull in.
