Homelink autolearning other garage door

Hey TL Team,

I have a 3 car garage and have successfully trained my '04 TL to open all three garage doors with each of the homelink buttons (one button per door). However, after about a week, when I open/close one door, they all open/close (as if I programmed all doors to one button). I'll erase and re-program with success for about a week, then it will happen all over again. It is as if the homelink jumps transmitters and by default learns all. Any thoughts?

I'm no expert, but it sounds like the rolling code thing may have done you in. That's the only thing I can think of, and I don't know how it works, but it is very possibly the answer you are seeking.

More comments welcomed.

Same here

I had this exact same problem within 3 months of owning my car. Everytime I would reprogram the buttons from scratch, the problem would begin reoccurring within another 2-3 months. I could never pinpoint any particular pattern or event that caused it.

I called the Homelink Hotline and a very good customer service representative helpd me correct the problem and I have been good now for over a year.

The solution was to not only reset all the buttons in the car but also to reset the door opener headunits. In addition to that, and I think this is what made the difference, he had me unplug the power from the door opener headunits as well. It seems that by getting everything to a reset level and then starting the programming made the difference.

Give that a try and if it still doesn't solve your problem, give them a call.

Good luck!
