Question The HID lights and theft?

Has Honda improved at all the mounts for the HID lights? In certain areas I hear about a lot of thefts of Acura TL and CL HID lights by theives just coming up and prying the light bar out. Any changes to help prevent that?

The new design of the hood makes it pretty hard to remove the headlights (as EmuMessenger mentioned in a different Thread), So I mean if it is hard for the driver to take the headlights out, imagine how hard it would be for a thief to steal it

it might make him think twice, specially if Acura put some type of new alarm or some type of new bolt pattern or something..

Ya but no matter what, if the thief wants it, he will get it..

they need to mount the ballast in a place that isnt accessable from the outside of the car. like on the firewall or something. like 2004TL said do something to make them think twice and move on to easer targets, like the 2nd gen TL

And there is 03 Maximas that are easier but Nissan came out with some bracket that makes it harder..

The Nissan kit is trash as it does not work. I have heard stories of how it failed to protect the lights.

I have not heard of a single case, even in the "big city" of Louisville.

Acc to my Acura guy, they mounted the ballast in the engine room, away from any point where is could be accessible for theft unless the hood is raised..

Quote from acura:

"To reduce the chance of theft, the headlight units are attached to the vehicle’s side frame rail with an additional bracket. This bracket is not accessible once the vehicle is fully assembled, though the HID bulbs are easily replaceable."

I hope we can still take the headlights out to clear them.
