HID lighting question? Need help!

So I'm a new owner of a 2004 TL 6speed with nav.
Of course, I'm already buying stuff. First thing was some 5k DDM HIDs and 55w ballast.

So here's the deal. Stock ballast are 35w and I got some 55w ballast to brighten them up. Well I got the 5k hids in without a problem.

My question is, is there away to hook up different ballast? I know where the stock one is, but I don't understand how I would possible upgrade them.

Any help would help. I did search the forum before. I seen sow older stuff but nothing like what I'm asking. Thanks, Joey

If you want to be really safe, you could buy a relay kit that is directly connected to the battery and is switched by the output of the stock connection.

I don't know what the difference in current draw would be comparing a 35W vs 55W. Melting of the stock wiring would be one concern.

The other is the additional heat generated by the 20W boost.

You cant put 55 watt kit in the OEM headlights without compromising the integrity/safety of the headlight itself. Over time the hi heat from the 55 watt bulb WILL burn the chrome coating on the reflector bowl of hi/low beam projector.

The only way to have 55 watt output without jeopardizing the headlights and oem wiring is to modify the OEM ballasts to produce 55 watts worth of output along with using Philips DL-50 bulbs. DL-50 HID bulbs run cooler than most of the aftermarket 55 watt bulbs are proven to produce more light than any of the aftermarket iterations of 55 watt HID bulbs.

My opinion is to just upgrade to Philips 85122+ bulbs and swap the OEM projector lenses with the ZKW or ZKW-R clear ones.
