nothing will exactly match the stock bulbs because most aftermarket kits for that bulb starts in the 5000k range which will have slightly less output and be tinted slightly blue or pink, depending on the manufacturer.

You could try contacting Matt at umnitza.com. that is where i got HID fogs for my Maxima. don't look for this on the site as it most likely isn't there. just call or email directly for the correct application.

do you have your fogs rewired to come on independently from the headlights?

this is another good option as it will look very similar to the headlights when in use but it is in fact not an HID bulb as you said you are looking for.

Would the hoen bulbs work for the Canadian TL's daytime running lights?

There are no HID replacement lamps for our fogs because our fogs are not HID. So you're stuck with incandescent lamps. Sylvania Silverstars are readily available and are whiter than the stock lamps. But do keep in mind that whiter light (higher kelvin temps) is not as effective in fog as more yellowed light. If you want just more light and not particularly whiter, consider Philips Premiums. There are also a host of other high-output lamps from which to chose.

You could use a HID kit though which are readily available. Some are for sale in the vendors section of this forum. You just need a kit that uses 9006 bulbs. The kits include the ballast, bulb, etc. There is also a yellow HID kit for ultimate fog visibility.

9006 lamps are incandescent. HID lamps use a gas which, when electically excited, emits an intense light. Totally different system of illumination.

You could install an after market HID kit in the lower valance area, but why?

Also, are there really any HID kits that are a "bolt-in" for our fogs? I would doubt it since the lamps use different mounting, but you never know, eh?

You could install the kit I linked into the factory fog lamp location (incorporated in the factory head lamp housing)

Yes.

There are a lot of manufacturers who have 'real' HID bulbs in the form factor of a 9005, 9006, h4, etc. And yes... you of course have to have a ballast to run them too. I have two sets in my 92 Maxima in my BMW E36 headlight housings (which are 9005 and 9006 bulbs). http://members.cox.net/mp3car/max/4.jpg
