HID bulb recommendations?

Looking to improve my stock bulbs a bit. I've been surfing the forums a lot and it seems that mostly everyone recommends going for 5000-6000k. I want to keep the car clean so I'm leaning towards 5000k - pure white with a hint of blue while maintaining visibility. I also want these bulbs to last for a while and not damage anything so I'm willing to spend a bit more cash then the generic $10 ebay/amazon versions.

Most people recommend the OSRAM Cool Blue Intense Xenarc D2S which is $100 a bulb. That is the absolute best bang for your buck correct?

Is there anything else I need to know before install? Any good helpful videos? Thanks all.

Osram CBI are $185/pair here

As nice as those bulbs are, I don't see myself spending that much anytime soon just for some bulbs. I hardly do any night time driving. I would like to have them one day though.

Right now I'm using Morimoto 3Five 5k bulbs. They are $45/pair here

I recommend those if you don't want to drop almost $200 for headlight bulbs. I've had mine in for almost a year now.

6k is actually white with a hint of blue.
5k is pure white with no blue at all.

I got CBIs for about $150 shipped on a sale from TRS. Yeah they're more expensive than Morimoto, but I did get one dud Morimoto bulb, other sets were fine, I'd still go with them over eBay cheapies. I rarely drive at night too, so I figure it was a one time expense, the bulbs should last me the life of the car or I'll have sold it before they go out.

CBIs...do it when you find a sale. Its a pain to swap 'em IMO, so I would recommend doing it right so you only have to do it once.

Pretty easy to swap them.

But CBIs are the best. 85122+ are second. Buy the CBIs if you have the dough, they're def. worth it.

I'm about to buy my second pair. (Tried the Morimotos and they aren't as good-- sold my old headlights with my CBIs in there )

I agree, CBI's are the best but the most expensive.

I'm curious now. I've used both 85122+ and CBI bulbs and, granted, CBI bulbs are better is it worth double the price?

I don't really care about it being 5k and the 85122+ being 4300k. The lumens difference is noticeable, but doesn't 'WOW' you compared with the Phillips.

Does 100% in price difference give you 100% or even a comparable/reasonable range, better light output? I may just go with the 85122+ because they're pretty cheap $70-80 for the pair.

I've have the 5000k Morimoto 3FIVE bulbs for two years, and have zero complaints. Their price for the quality can't be beat.

Morimotos are good, but doesn't come close to the 85122+ or CBI. For the extra $30, 85122+ is a better buy.

I agree, or even the Osram 66240 Nightbreaker which are supposedly the best new bulb output wise.

I bought my Morimoto's from TRS, and I don't remember seeing the Phillips 85122+.

Nightbreaker? Interesting. Haven't heard about it. Though I haven't been active on HIDplanet for awhile so things may have changed.

They're supposedly the brightest/widest; but they say they pretty warm white like barely 4000k.
