What you experienced is known as "color shifting". A bulb does this over the course of it's lifetime and eventually turns pink/red and loses it's brightness. The bulb size you need is D2S

Here is what I just installed last week in 5k.

Morimoto 3Five - $45 for a PAIR - Comes in 3000k, 43000k, 5000k, and 6000k - http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...oducts_id=1250

These next ones are very high quality and are known to last very long and do not colorshift as quick as other bulbs. These are superior to the OEM bulbs

Philips 85122+ - $95 for a PAIR - OEM 4,300K ONLY - http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...roducts_id=148

Now if you got a lot of money and want the cream of the crop.... There's these..

Osram CBI - $185 for a PAIR - CBI stands for Cool Blue Intense. These come in 5,000K only - http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...ducts_id=10591

Osram SVS - $185 for a PAIR - 4,200K OEM color - http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...roducts_id=257

Those 45 a pair 5000k you put in are they still decent? Are they just as bright or brighter/as crisp as the stock bulbs? I appreciate the help.

i bought the 3five morimoto from theretrofitsource, one didn't work and just waiting for a reply to get new ones. they weren't what i expected for color. I got the 5k bulbs and they look a little green to be honest, not the crisp white i thought i would get out of them.. maybe i got a bad pair who knows.

I had good luck in the past with Morimoto bulbs but when I tried them in my TL one did not work right, it would fire up for a minute, then flicker for a minute, then cut out. I put the stock bulbs back in with zero issues. IMHO since we have OEM ballasts stick to OEM suppliers, Osram/Sylvania or Phillips. Or GE but they don't make anything that stands out of the pack. The Phillips bulbs linked above are your best bang for the buck and best visibility but will not have that ultra white look (which is a little counterintuitive). Whatever you do don't buy cheap eBay blue ones and you'll be fine. In terms of aftermarket though Morimoto would be the best option there.

Checking in to represent Morimoto! Many are leery of them because of their price but I have been very happy with mine.

Purchased them from theretrofitsource.com

Same here, I got the 5000K, and the work perfect. They are even brighter than my original OEM bulbs because they were so old they had color shifted probably closer to 6000k, and where a lot dimmer than the Morimoto's.

in no way am i saying the morimoto's are a bad product, just my first experience with them wasn't 100% successful! I am in contact with one of the workers there and we are trying to get it worked out. AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Fast replys and great people. Highly recommend them! All I hear is good things about them.

Here is a link to the 3five bulbs were are talking about http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...oducts_id=1250
choose your color and checkout! Super fast shipping also!!!

I've had my morimoto 5k installed for over a week now and they are very bright. They are very bright and much whiter than the factory bulbs I previously had in it.

A lot of people have had good success with morimoto bulbs... Just because a few people have had problems with it don't let that turn you away from them. Remember... They only cost $45 a pair. If you have any problems the retrofit source will be more than happy to assist you to replace those bulbs for working ones.

Your paying $45 for a pair. That beats the $100/per BULB you saw at advanced auto parts... That's $200/pair... Trust me, give the morimotos a chance. You'll love them in 5k. I have no idea why the poster above said his 5K morimotos looked green? Could be because his headlight housing is so dirty? Mine is FAR from green. It's pure white. More white than my factory ones.

My Morimoto 5000k's were bright white, no hint of any other color other than at the cutoff, except I had one dud bulb. I wish I had kept the ones out of my last DD that I retrofitted and sold.
