Hi, I'm new -and I just bought at TL! yay
heya.....so last night, i decided to trade in my 2001 Infiniti QX4 that had a ton of miles on it and was just killing me on gas.
here's the story of my car-buying experience:
end of the month, on a monday, and it was raining; couldnt make for a better car buying situation for the buyer. i casually walked in at 7pm.
car in question in a 2004 TL w/navigation. with 16,xxx miles, various pricing sources have it's trade in value as low as $28,200, and have it's retail value as high as $32,000
so, I get there....young, smooth talking, arabic kid says hi, gives me the sales pitch. I tell him that I have been looking for a TLnav for about 2 weeks, and have driven about 10 of them, and that the lowest price that I have on one is $28,500, with about 10k miles more. (fyi, no such car exists, and that price would be a steal, if it did.)
we dance back and forth. he does the whole, "let me go ask the manager" thing. after a while, I say, "listen, for your car, $28,750, take that in there or whatever, but if you say no, im walking out."
2 minutes later, he comes out, shakes my hand. . .we have a deal.
so we run my credit, everything is fine when all of a sidden, i say, "um, I think that I want to trade my car in."
oops, where did that come from?
well, by now, its like 9pm, it's just me, the sales manager, the salesperson, and the F&I guy. oh, and a porter.
he asks for my keys, says that they are gonna go take a look at my car. i dont know what they were thinking, especially since my car was parked on a dark sidestreet, and I didnt tell them where it was. my car never moved out of it's place. 10 minutes later, he comes back and gives me what I know the is perfect KBB trade in value. sweet, especially since, it wasnt in perfect condition, and had maybe $3K in repairs to be made.
so, long story long. I get financing at 6.25%, simple interest, which I'll try to refinance today, and here we are.
the car is pretty nice.
