I understand from prior posts (and other phone forums) that there was a firmware upgrade to the T616 at the end of 2003. I also understand that there were bluetooth improvements. Has anyone obtained this firmware upgrade and if so, did it solve any HFL echo that callers might have been hearing? Finally, how did you get the FW upgrade? Cingular says that they cannot do it and it has to go to Ericsson (21 day wait).

I have the firmware upgrade for my unlocked T616. I never had any echo or anything. The only thing I saw improved was cellular range. I now have reception in places I didn't used to.

You can get the PC cables off ebay like here http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=43312 and unlock the phone yourself and do the firmware upgrade.
