Hey guys! New here

Hey guys, new here, just wanted to drop a line and intoduce myself. Name is Mike, 30, from Indiana, Honda service mgr by trade.

Just picked up an 05 TL base, NBP, 70K for $9200. Has a few minor problems, but all minor stuff. Finally got myself into an Acura (been driving a 98 Accord for the last 10 yrs) My wife has an 02 MDX that I picked up in March for $500 and fixed to replace her RX300.

Seems like a great site from what Ive come across so far.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

yeah it was $500 02 mdx touring, navi, tow pkg, lot of other accessories. sounds great huh? the catch was....body damage, trans out, f & r brakes, condensor pushed into rad, a/c comp inop but did have recent timing belt and new tires! oh and least i forget the massive water leak from the body seam behind the left fender that was a factory defect and had been leaking the entire 8 yrs.... all in all after fixing all the mech stuff and the front end damage i have about $5200 in it which still isnt bad for the vehicle and only 130k miles.

$9200 is the perks of working at a dealership, took the car in on trade and the rest was history.

problems/annoyances/flaws were:

lots of paint chips (i mean a lot) most were already nicely touched up but they didnt disappear.

frt bumper license plate holder indented the bumper and spidered the paint. now fully sanded, repaired and painted

lots of swirls, probably from years of the auto car wash. now fixed and never again heading to a car wash

3 of the 4 window run channels damaged, looked as if someone tried to pry the window open. replaced them

right front door lock actuator inop. replaced when above run channel replaced.

misc interior bulbs out. fixed and installed isimple at same time.

tl logos on floormats missing??

glovebox rattle. fixed

rear deck rattle. not yet fixed

scracthes/small gashes on rear seat backs, probably not gonna fix.

needed frt brakes and rotors resurfaced, replaced rear rotors, pads were ok on rear.

1 stupid long valve stem. fixed

both mirror glasses have brown discoloration on them

now the fun part.
wipers quit working the day after i got it. ok fine, since it hasnt rained for months here no biggie. recall not yet done, make appt at acura (since i cant do it at the honda dealer i work at grrrr.) wifey takes to acura, drops off for wiper and p/s recalls, gets loaner, goes shopping. phone call 10 mins till closing "sorry we dont have the wiper motor and we accidentally broke the windshield prying the wiper cowl out" fuuuuck. ok take loaner home, pick up 3 days later. check out find rear view mirror laying on floor, stick up falls off (they mounted the base too high up on the windshield that the mirror wont slide under the overhead console opening.)
right roof molding stick up off body, wiper cowling badly distorted. left roof molding bent. scratch on fender at very top near glass. call and tell them, they send glass guy to fix with new cowl, moldings, etc. (mind you i live over an hr away from the nearest acura dealer)

find p/s hose bracket not installed, buzzing sound at 2400rpms, looks like they damaged flex area of j pipe when removing for ps line. misc clips missing from splash shield.

i understand shit happens but for gods sake come on now.

now that my rant is over. the car is up to my standards and awesome. already added the decklid spoiler and aspec kit is soon.

Sweet ride and even sweeter deal! My girlfriend works for a local dealer, got her 06 Murano for 13k with 25k miles! That thing is worth 20k still and she got it a year ago! There are perks to working at dealers! Your pictures make me want to get my tint done asap!
Welcome!

Yep, it looks awesome!! And being that nice and black, it probably stayed that way for at least 20 minutes. Look closely and you can see the dust already sneaking up on that shiny black paint......
