It did a good job at protecting the occupants except the ejected passenger despite how it looks. I have no doubt speed was a factor here.

Assuming that the woman who died was the only one not wearing a seat belt because she was the only one ejected, then the car did a great job of saving the lives of the other four people in it.

There was an accident a week or two ago where a guy was flung up onto the freeway sign after being ejected from his prius and died. He was driving like an asshole too.
