I've noticed some paint abnormalities on my 04TL. Visually, the paint looks great, but when I'm drying off the car after washing it or while wiping off detailing spray, I notice a different "feel" in certain areas of the paint. For example, back on the trunk surface, the section from the window to halfway across the trunk feels like glass. But then the rest of the trunk surface feels less like glass. It's hard to explain, it's not like the difference you feel going from a waxed to unwaxed surface. Could this be paint overspray? There's also sections on the hood of the car. I've tried waxing small areas to see if that makes a difference, but it doesn't. I'm thinking of trying clay next.

 

I was able to fix this issue with a clay bar. I used the Mother's California Gold Clay system. It worked perfectly! Clay then a quick coat of Turtle Wax Platinum Series wax and it's smooth as glass now.
