hi - i may be buying an 07 tl later today. it has 34k on the odo and is ceertified.

i would like to know a couple of important things (to me) so herei am -
1st i have an 03 cl type s with 230k on it, i have replaced the tranny twice.
I have been told the tranny was not made by acura, but by GM (explains the failures). Does the 07 have the same tranny? is it a honda or acura tranny?
have any of you guys over 100 k on the same tranny?

2nd - the drivers seat - with 230k on my 03, the drivers seat is kinda beat, no lumbar and hard. I read someplace that in 07 acura upgraded the padding. can anyone confirm this? if yes, would this change be for all 07's or would it have been a mid year refresh? the car i may buy was pruchased in march of 07 and may have been built in 06 - before the seat upgrade.

The 07's tranny is the tranny from the RL. It's Honda. It's a much better transmission than the ones in previous-year TL's.



The seat is different from the 03 CL. I have 50k on my 07 and I haven't managed to beat it up yet.

If it says it's an 07, then it'll have the 07 specs. They don't build 07's in '06 to '06 specs and then change them over on New Years Day.

thanks shadow - i read that the tl type s had the 3.5 rl motor and tranny - did not know the regular tl had the rl tranny also.

The TL's in the 04-06 range were notorious for tranny problems, the 07+.. not so much. And of course in the 3G TL, the seats will be a better quality oppose to your CL. Good luck on your purchase.

To make sure there's no confusion, the base 07/08 TL has the RL tranny, but not the 3.5L motor - the base is a 3.2L. You probably figured that out, but just making sure
