Help Me Buy My Tl Please

OK Guys... If anyone read my other post https://acurazine.com/forums/console-computer-gaming-13/battlefield1942-dc-0-6-a-124999/ then I need more help. Brief Cliffnotes:
1. Bought 05 DGP Non NAV 5AT (7300 miles) 6 months ago...
2. Want to trade for same car in 6MT (11000 miles)

Heres where I need help. I found the car and its being offered to me at 31,000. Its an 05 TL DGP NAV 6MT with 11000. Is this a decent price? Also what are any of you guys seeing people get for trade in on the car I have now? I can buy the car without trading in my existing TL and sell it privatly or I can trade it in. Either way works for me but can I actually sell it myself? Are people buying used TLs at all?

So Anyway.. Im trying to be able to go to this guy and know what kind of numbers hes telling me. Anything you can help me with is greatly appreciated....

If you guys are real drivers you will understand why I feel like i should switch to a manual so no flames...

listening to other trade-in stories here, used TL seems to be hot on market.

If you have the money to buy the new one while you wait for a buyer for the old one, go for it. Trading in cars to a dealer complicates the deal and you can definetly get more for the car on your own, especially with such low mileage.

That price seems high. Is that $31,000 on the road w/ taxes and tag? I paid $31K ($32.6K OTR) for my 6MT (new) in Feb 2004. Granted, I do not have NAVI but that price seems high.

Most drivers want automatics, so make sure you deal hard for a 6MT.

That price is too high. It has a years worth if driving on it and the 06s are out. Some people might say well if you paid a 1000 bucks with trade you are getting a decent deal.. You should only have to pay the difference in list price value between the two for a good deal. You are getting a car with more miles on it.

As for the hot used car comment. That might be true but that is typical used car salesman rhetoric to tell you that the dealership is into making money. You get wholesale on trade and pay retail on the purchase, which means this could be a costly car swap. If you were trading up to the RL than maybe you would do better on the deal.

Keep in mind if you finance you might not get as good of a rate rate on the used car and not for as many years. I have not financed a car in years but those were the rules. Used car loans were shorter duration and slightly higher percentage rate compared to what might be offered on a new car.

If you trade in cars a lot I would drive it another year and then trade for a left over 06 or even an 07.

Did anybody else think he was asking for donations to buy a TL when you read the title?

I bought my 04 with 8K miles on it and paid 30K cash for it.
It was already de-badged, had tinted windows, 18" rims and A-spec body kit.
The guy wanted out of his lease.

Are there people buying these cars used ? YES, absolutely.
In fact if you are gonna buy USED, why don't you go Online and find a Private Seller. They are bound to give you a way better deal.
And yes sell the Car yourself. Post it on KBB.com or CarsDirect.com
you'll get a way better deal.

Go to kbb.com and run all three prices on your car and the MT you want to buy.
You can get the Retail price, the Trade in value and the Private sell value.

BTW....I am a real driver but I don't think a Stick is necessary, unless of course I buy a Vette or some other TRUE SPORTS CAR.

The AT TL is a fine ride nevertheless.

I hear you guys. I actually have a dealer in VA Bch who is a friend of mine. He deals specifically with high end used cars and he is willing to sell my car for me free of charge. So it will get all over the websites at no cost. For the new one, I guess i am being greedy because I Have to buy a 05 because i want it in the DGP.... so who knows... everybody pays something different for every car so oh well. the final cost of this car is 31,250 otd with them adding the aspec body kit as well.... so who knows... im not getting raped but its not the deal of the century either...

Guilty as charged. So where do we send the money? The Acura TL relief fund?

I would think there would be more competition for the 6MT since there are less of them made (I'd imagine as much) and it comes with more standard.

There certainly are fewer 6MT cars. I would guess that if demand warranted, Honda would build more 6MT cars. Having said that, 6MT cars may be more in-demand in the used market because as the price comes down, youger folks (who may prefer shifting) can afford them.

Good point.
