Help! I need new brake pads and rotors

I went to the stealership today for an oil change and tire rotation. They said my brake pads have 5% life left, and it was going to cost me $1000 for new pads and rotors. I looked up the cost of parts at www.acurapartsworld.com and figured it to be around $300. I can't justify paying the dealership $700 to change this out for me.

I've done a search on acurazine, but can't find a write up or video of a "How To." Does anyone know of if this is something easy enough for an amateur to do and to do it correctly? Can anyone post a link of instructions on how to do this. I found 1 youtube video for a 2006 Acura Tl, but i'm looking for a super specific instructions and any side notes to be aware of...such as cleaning other parts of the brake components, or if I will need to order any other pieces or parts beside the pads and rotors.

My car is a 2007 Acura TL 3.2 automatic with 62,663 miles.

Thanks for in advance!

its pretty simple.

loosen lug nuts
jack car up
take off wheels
inspect wheel wells.
two bolts to release pads.
take off pads
two bolts to release caliper.
take off caliper.

this is the hard part.
will need a drill or an impact driver.
there are two screws on the rotor itself.
these two screws need to come out before the rotor can come off the hub.

instead of wasting time with impact driver, i go straight for the drill.
drill those two screws out.
once those are out, you need to bang the rotor with a hammer to release the rust.
once the rust falls, the rotor will come off.

Thanks ya'll! How is the wear compared to the OEM parts? How is the bite in cold weather with these compared to OEM?

I would first confirm you need new rotors that does not make sense with your mileage. I just replaced front pads for first time and i am at 83k miles. Rotors were fine. OEM pads were 46$. OEM pads work great and life is terrific. I guaranty you wont get that kind of mileage with aftermarket pads.

This is an easy job. I'm an idiot and I did it. Getting the rotors off is the only potential problem. Get an impact screwdriver at Autozone and some PB blaster.
I did the centric rotors and Akebono pads from TireRack for about $200. No dust and stops great.

The Brakemotive package is working great on my Type S. The stock Brembo pads dusted like crazy, and now I get literally almost no dust. Plus the rotors look fantastic.
