I need a new keyless remote #2 for my 04 tl. I went to an acura dealership and I can get one for $100. I thought that was a bit steep so I decided to wait and went to ebay and saw them for around $25.

Can someone tell me if...
1.) I absolutely have to buy one from the dealership?
2.) I can buy one from ebay, but it has to have the exact same transmitter...how do I tell which transmitter I have???
3.) or if I can buy any remote and program it to my tl?

I did locate and purchase a remote on E-bay back in January for $23 total from a private seller. You do have to verify that the id number on the back matches exactly as there are two remotes that look the same. The complete ID that will work for your '04 TL as remote #2 would be

FCC ID: OUCG8D-387H-A, IC: 850G-G8D387HA / G8D-387H-A MEMORY-2

You can tell which one you have by the picture of the little seat and the number 1 or 2 on the bottom of course.

I have not programmed the one I bought yet and in reality bought it as a spare as the cases get so easily scratched up but it is the real item.
