Help with a damaged TL-S
I have a 07 TL-S that went over a curb but has alot of interior damage including the sub-frame. Mechanic is quoting 10K + additional costs that could be incurred due to mechanical damage. Car has 100K on it. What would you advise me to do? It's sitting on a driveway atm. Are there any shops that would buy it as is? Located in Scarborough, btw.TIA.

Here is some more info:
Acura in markham quoted 15K and even said this could be a write-off.
My buddy was driving his buddy's car so he doesn't wanna go through insurance since he doesn't want his buddy's premiums to be affected for his mistake. So my buddy is prepared to take the car off his buddy by paying dor it, but now he wants to atleast some of his money back. Visually there isn't much damage other than the fact that the front two wheels have been pushed back and are pretty close to scraping the backsplash.

Where's the full story?
Sorry I'm just confused.
First we were talking about your TL-S, then now we're talking about your buddy's buddy's car?
Wtf is going in here?!?!

LOL make buddy 1 buy buddy 2's car, then buddy 1 will be parting the car out to regain some of his money back . That high of mileage, buddy 1 is gonna be losing money if he attempts to buy buddy 2's car for what buddy 2 owes on it, put in 15k to repair it, then sale it.

Tell your buddy's friend to join and post, not to relay his stupidity 3rd hand...

Sorry ppl, didn't mean to confuse y'all. It is no longer buddy #2's car anymore as buddy #1 has prepared to pay retail value of it, which is why I'm trying to help him find a way to recoup some of his costs back. Any help would greatly be appreciated .

going through insurance would be the cleanest way. the only way to recoup some cost would be to part out the car. rebuilding and selling will be more of a hassle then its really worth

^yea, that's what they've been saying. Going through the insurance will not happen because buddy #2's family isn't up for it. That's why I'm trying to see if there are shops that would buy it as is? Selling each part individually just sounds like a pain. Would a junkyard be the worst case?

Well, I think a friend can only help so much and totaling a friends (I mean buddies car) is pushing it.....without pics who knows what you could/couldn't part? Type-S springs, shocks, interior pieces, nav screen, nav dvd player, backup camera, headrests, seats.....
Although I dont know of a place that will buy a totaled car for over a $10K price tag.....

That could be it, but it was buddy #1's fault so he wants to make things better. Who would buy a totaled car for over 10K then? The junkyard? Is it better to fix all damages and then sell it?

The best thing to do, OP, is tell your buddy, #1, 2, 3, or 4... to park the car somewhere and sell it piece by piece on eBay or somewhere of that nature, until the car is completely gone. You can try to sell it to a junkyard and there's a chance your buddy might not lose but a few thousand on the car. Some junkyards pay good money for totaled cars.
Good luck!

Parting out to individual buyers will probably net buddy #1 a few K more but he isn't a car guy and it would be a pain to deal with. So perhaps there are buyers in here for the whole set?

What is funny about this is that if buddy 2 would have gone through his insurance, it may have been totalled and branded (without seeing it)
Buddy 1 could have a clean title car.
Not seeing it, parting it out could be a good option.

tell your buddies to do themselves a favor and go through insurance.. which if they do have insurance they will decide to go through insurance in the first place..
What does buddies one or 2's family has anything to say about insurance claims anyway? If you cant pay for a luxury car and insurance on your own.. Then you shouldn't be driving one.

Buddy #2 and his family is against it since it wasn't their fault. Anyways it's been decided that buddy #1 is taking the car off #2. So now onto finding out how to maximize returns from the car. This TL just looks too new for anyone to notice anythings wrong with it!

hey guys, most of you are all in the US so I don't see how we could work things out :/. My buddy took some pics of the car. I will probably have them later tonight.
