Exclamation Help! Bumper swap

Hello guys, i am new to this so hopefully i am posting this thread in the right spot. Any ways i have a 05 tl completely stock and recently i was hit from behind. No major damage just a rear bumper and driver tail light. So I think its time to give my car a make over. I will be painting it a different color and adding some mods. My question is can I put a bumper from a 07 tl or type s on it as well with the tail lights? Im also think about the front bumper to but not to sure.

Any help or advice will help a lot! Also any suggestions I can do to my car feel free to let me know

Thanks!

Do you have access to either an auto body shop or large sums of money?

All parts you listed are interchangeable. Please use the search function as there are numerous threads showing how to DIY and other info on what parts are interchangeable.

It may be more cost effective to buy a pearl white one

Possibly true, but if you buy a factory painted WDP bumper and than get the car painted by another party WDP chances are it will not match. I would just get the whole car and the bumpers painted WDP at the same time by the same painter to guarantee a matching finish.

And yes OP the 04-06 and 07-08 rear bumpers are exactly the same. There is no difference between those year models.

The 07-08 Type-S rear bumper will also fit and is the only one that will look different because the exhaust openings are wider to accommodate the quad exhaust tips that the Type-S model has.

If you put the Type-S rear bumper on your base model and you keep your factory rectangular exhaust tips it will look very silly because there will be a huge gap in the exhaust opening of the bumper. You might want to look into upgrading to a quad exhaust system too (ATLP, XLR8, RV6)

I can not comment on the 07-08 front bumper conversion because I have no experience with that. I can't tell you if it bolts right up with no modifications or requires some modifications. Also the 07-08 has the fog lights mounted in the lower bumper as opposed to in the headlights like the 04-06 model and I do not know how you would wire up the new fog lights on the lower bumper. More searching on AZine should give you the answers to everything you could possibly want to know.
