Help/Advice needed ASAP!!!
Help/Advice needed ASAP!!!
Let me begin with what happened yesterday at Oakland Acura, which i am losing patience for now. Yesterday i brought my car in at 8:00 AM for a A12 service, tpms error, and the rattle in my glove box. They say they would call me at 3 to let me know if the car is ready but i call them repeatedly at 3 and after 3 but no answer. I get to Oakland Acura and non of the work is done but all they tell me is to come back tomorrow because they ordered the parts and they should be here tomorrow. First off why the hell didnt they call me tell me my car was just sitting there since i brought it in at 8 being one of the first people there AND i live maybe 40 to 50 miles away from Oakland so do they know what the price of gas is? And i know i know ask for a loaner but for some odd reason Oakland Acura never has loaners availbe even if i ask a week ahead. But now today they call me back telling me they cant fix my TPMS problem because my audio system was wired into some fuse and it fucked it up, my question is what the fuck did they check yesterday to find out what the problem was and why are they telling me today that they cant fix it anymore unless i want to pay $800. I was planning on just going to Oakland Acura and cursing out all the serivce people and never coming back to that piece of shit ass Oakland Acura. But i thought about it and just figured id ask for some help/advice with my situation. Thanks in advance.
Hi,
Did you install an after market headunit or sound system?
If they narrowed it down to a burnt fuse box, yes, they will ask you to pay for it. And you probably could of avoided this if you didn't annoy them with questions, which is of course 100% your right as a customer.
Sounds to me like a shitty lazy stealership. Call corporate headquarters and file a case.

no headunit or anything. just the power, ground, and remote wire to my amp for subs. They say my remote wire burned it out...which is hella stupid to me because the remote wire just takes the signal to tell the amp to turn on, it doesnt send anything back. but they said it burned out the the sensor, the harness, and the whle system. it just sounds like theyre trying to get some money or avoid doing the work but i am going to file a case because Oakland Acura has been shitty since the day after i bought my car and brought it back in for a rattle issue.
well, if the remote acted as an on module, meaning, it was a hot source trigger. then they are maybe right... But if it acted on a negative, then they are full of crap.
Always remove any custom install you did prior to brining your car to the dealership. Dealership rather charge you than write up the warranty work. It's a business.

Don't they schedule you to get a loaner? Every place I've heard of, you call and tell them you want work done, and want to get a loaner. They tell you the next time a loaner is available, and it's always there. I've never heard of a first come first served loaner policy, that's pretty weak.
It's also pretty weak that noone answered the phone to talk to you about your car, you might have been about to buy something. As for not calling you to tell you they had to order stuff, it seems pretty typical of dealerships. Not that it's right, but they all seem to do that crap.
As for the wires being burned out, I've seen it happen before, you don't think anything should go wrong, but it does. moral of the story is if you do the work yourself, you assume all risks involved.

i had the wires put in by my friends audio shop. Im waiting to get my car back so i can take it to his shop and if there is something wrong then tell them to pay for it or fix it or if its not even related to the audio system then do a write up and take it back to acura. The thing i hate most is wasting gas going back and forward and thats making me want to take off on anyone that is bullshiting

call acura client services and bitch...worked for me
If the dealer is crappy, why do you keep going back?
You don't have to have work done where you bought the car. *ANY* Acura dealer can do warranty work; *ANY* Honda/Acura dealer (as well as countless indies and/or regional chains) can do periodic maint work.
In that part of the country there *has* to be another dealer within 1 hour of you.

well just the remote wire alone wont do shit because its 9volts and the amp requires 500ma 12volt trigger which is putting some kind of big load on the line trying to draw 12 and it burned.....Id be careful with what u say to client services because the dealer will counter it if u said something stupid to any of the people there. or argued that it has nothing to do with what u did.

Yep, you added after market. It caused the problem (It doesn't matter if you THINK it could not have), it apparently did and that's all they REALLY need. If you do want to be smart about it you could just pick it up. Remove the after market stuff and then take it to a different Acura dealer. That approach may work. It may not but as it is now, your FUBARred..(of your own accord, of course)
