Hello,
I need your help because neither Acura client services nor my dealer are taking me seriously. My brake rotors are extremely warped and my car has only 24,000 miles; they have been like this since 10,000 miles.
I called Acura Client Sevice and they told me that the brakes are not under warranty due to being a wear and tear item. What in the car isn't wear and tear? They told me that they could not do anything about it. I then called my dealer(Acura of South Florida), and they told me that the brakes were only covered until 12k miles.
I am only 19 and I am not being taken serously. I do not know if they are right when they say the brakes are not covered, since I have read numerous threads saying that they are covered under waranty. What can I do? What do I have to say once I get to the dealer? Should I go aftermarket?
HELP!!!!!!!
Thank you

No....your brakes will not be covered under warrantee....especially at 24,000 miles. I understand what you are saying that you are not being taken seriously being of a younger age...have a friends son that lives here in Indy (family moved to Chicago and he stayed behind) and he is having the same problem with Acura and he wants to buy a new TSX? That being said...I do not think this is the case here as far as your warrantee covering this issue. If you had taken it in at 10,000 miles....you might have an issue...but at 25,000 miles you are clearly in the "wear and tear" category. Now as far as the rotors being warped....this is generally caused by overheating. There can be several factors leading to this condition...including but not limited to...bad calipers sticking causing brakes to ride rotors superheating them....improper brake pads installed at some point causing superheating (I have seen people install carbon metallic pads on large cars and have this happen) and lastly the obvious one can be abuse.(extreme braking often) My guess is....they are assuming abuse given your age. This may or may not be the case, but at 25,000 miles...they are not going to do anything about it under warrantee. At that milage...things will go bad like this under extreme driving conditions.

I do know that I had problems with my brakes (front pads wore much quicker than expected) and when I took it into the shop with 15K miles the Acura Service Tech gave me new pads and rotors and didn't charge me a dime.

Another thing that can cause warped rotors are overtorqued lug nuts....
All which MichaelBenz pointed out as possible contributors to warped rotors are true... IF you could prove that some other portion of the brake system is malfunctioning -- like a stuck caliper for instance, then I think Acura would step in and replace both the rotor and caliper under warranty. (Two stuck calipers is not very likely!)
If you're a DIY-er, it shouldn't be too difficult to pull the rotors and have them turned or replaced. Remember that you should always use new pads with new rotors and brake easily for the first few hundred miles (some swear by an aggressive "brake bed-in" procedure although I have never done this... search the web if curious).
You could also try another dealership, although if they spend diagnostic time on the vehicle and decide not to cover the repair, they may bill you for it.
