Help! 2005 TL burning gas like crazy, 13 avg per miles

I just bought a 2005 acura TL auto. It has 80k miles on it. After I got it, I noticed that the computer shows only 13 miles per gallon on average. The engine light is not on or no any sign of mechanical failure too. The only problem is the tranny delays a second then engage the gear. Anyone know what is the problem?? could it be the gas pump censor?? Thank you!

just do it the old way to be sure! fill your tank, reset your tip, fill again when near and calculate. could be a fault computer.

150 miles on a half tank of gas should equate to about 22 miles a gallon. That's how much I get in my 04 TL.

Make sure you don't accelerate quickly, take some weight out of your car if possible, and keep a steady speed.

someone either had a lead foot or they let the car idle excessively.......take your pick..........also there should be no delay in trans engagement.....something's up there.....

After changing oil (mobile 1) and trany oil (honda Z-1), the care goes a lot smoother and it shows that 15 per gallon and 12 miles per hour.

I got my 08 TL 3 weeks ago and at first I was getting poor MPG around 16-18. After resetting the computer and puming premium gas I am now getting 20 mpg.

My transmission delays as well when shifting into D or R and makes a clunk. I took it to Acura and they said its fine. I think the exhaust is modified. It has lots of drone when driving and has a deeper rasp when the car starts up.

I would get your 02 sensors checked out or simply replaced.

^^^ btw leedog, they are air fuel ratio sensors, not o2 sensors anymore (yes the rear ones are still o2's but those are not there primary ones though)

It actually sounds about right. 16-17ish mpg in stop and go traffic/street driving. Around 30mpg on the freeway. Also have that slight transmission delay and my 1995 Prelude does as well.
