HELP! $40k OTD good deal or rip off?
$40k "out the door" (fees and tax included) for a 2004 Manual Transmission 6-speed NON-NAVI TL WITH A-SPEC KIT ($34k for car and $6k for A-Spec Kit) in anthracite and ebony interior. Should I take the deal or am I getting ripped off? I NEED COMMENT ASAP.
BTW, it is soooooo fcuking hard to find anthracite with ebony interior in 6MT in Cali.

Please I need more comments from people who are in Cali and have bought a similar car! I need to know so I can close the deal or not soon... 6MT are hot right now and will most likely be sold soon if I dont take it anyways, that is why the dealer is so firm on that price.

West Coast traditionally has the low discount, but I have seen something new recently. http://www.acura-tl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94898

You need to compare the prices with out tax. Every state is diffrent when it comes to that I could put my deal on here and it would look smoken since I only paid 3.5% sales tax. It still sounds a bit high I think you are getting taken for a ride. Since the 05's are coming soon you should be able to get a non navi tl in the 30k-32,5 range. Thats what I have seen from people. Why don't you call around some of the dealers in near bye states and see what you can save. 6k for the aspec is about 1k to much anyways.

The problem is that 6MT with the combination of anthracite and ebony interior is haaaard to find. I called like 20 dealerships in Cali and only 2 had it. Tustin had it, but by the time I got there they had sold it and Cerritos was the only one left. 6MTs are selling like crazy now for some reason... so its hard to get them, not to mention that dealers only get 1 or 2 6MTs to begin with.
Since it's the rare combo, please make sure that car is fairly new instead of the demo car or the old VIN 04TL. The current VIN is over 70k now. I didn't say 04TLs with VINs earlier than 70k are bad... if possible and you have a choice, the newer VIN would be better.

never stops!
thsiao, I bought in California in Dec 03. I've 6MT/Nav/HPT and my out the door price was $38,600 in the Bay. I bought for MSRP. If this helps. I think as people said, skip the A-Spec and get the car. You can do much better on A-spec after.

and btw get navi
If I had to choose, I would get the navi over A-Spec (which can always be added later, the nav cannot!!).

Does anyone read this
My car was 40,000 G’s out the door. I have the 5AT with Navi. That's with 100,000 mile warranty, floor mats and the all weather floor mats, plastic trunk tray thingy, wheel locks and the crappy paint and interior protection.
I got mine when they first came out so I got worked over on the price. There where three people hoping I would back out of the deal because they where ready to pay full price if I didn't

That's about right. I know how you would feel reading about how other people on this board rave about getting their TL's at good deals. But we live in California, where the tax is sky-high which will get us in the OTD price. Most dealers around here weren't budging below MSRP because they know people here are willing to pay for almost everything, even if the cost is a few thousand more. I got the 6MT Anthracite/Ebony combo w/ NAVI (no A-Spec) and it's just too hot of a car around here in California. I almost had to wait a month for my car to be built because of its scarcity around here. Well, that color combination and features that I asked for at least. Fortunately, my dealer found one available CA and was able to do a dealer trade with them. Two days later, my car arrives.
If your car was NAVI, I say the price you mentioned woud be good. If you wanna save some more and are mechanically inclined, I say just buy the car, and get the A-Spec parts at an on-line dealer like Sunnyside Acura. Check 'em out at www.acuraparts247.com

Do not buy the A-Spec for 6,000. You are getting a great deal on the car but not the A-Spec. Buy the car and get the A-Spec later as a add-on. PM and I'll give you the hook ups on where to get A-Spec in So Cal.
