Any toughts on the function of the square steel bar that is mounted on rubber between the bumper and radiator? It looks to be some sort of mass damper - is it possibly a vibration fix? (this is on an A/T VIN .....38K)

 

Dunno, but I have that in my early built 04TL, too. If I could find the pic at home, I'll post tonight.

That is some kind of damper/dampener. At least that is what it was referred to as in the nose mask installation instructions.
