Heated seats are not warm; turn off

Hey,
I just got my TL, and I have noticed two things. It seems that when you put the heated seats to high, it gets warm and then turns off. It then does not get warm again. Second, neither seat seams to get very warm when turning them on. Is this all normal? I took it to the dealer once and they said that they do heat up to normal specifications.
Thanks,
Mike

When they are on high, they cycle on and off, so they should get warm again. If not, then something is wrong.

Us Floridians don't know whether they don't get warm enough so I can't comment on that.

Worked perfectly for me in past 2 winters. Make sure you read the owner manual and Hi/Low setup works exactly as it says.

Our TL's have "two-stage" seat heaters. Turn on HIGH to bring the seat to temp, then turn to LOW to maintain temp. Low setting cycles off and one to maintain temp. If left continuously on HIGH, they heat then shut off as you describe. This is all per the manual, which is why it is helpful to...RTFM!

My 2004 manual reads (page 96) as follows, so unless they changed the manual for 2005, this is the way the seat heaters operate. If the 2005 seats work different, someone let me know how the 2005 manual reads.

In HI, the heater turns off when the seat gets warm, and turns back on after the seat's temperature drops. It continues to cycle as long as you leave it set on HI. The HI indicator stays on as a reminder that you have the heater on.

In LO, the heater runs continuously. It does not cylce with temperature changes.

I've thought that it doesn't get that hot either, not compared to some of the other heated seats I've sat in.

It seems like it cycles off and then does not cycle back on. I am probably going to have the guys at Acura look at it again.

The seat heaters work great. My only beef is that the switches are placed on a spot on the console where it's easy to hit them by accident without realizing it, something I've done many times. This is one thing they've definitely improved on in the new RL.
