Headliner Fixed by dealer damn good but...
Ok guys, there was another thread I started about "$129 B service", well I paid about 78 dollars on oil change and tire rotation and they fixed the headliner damn good; I don’t think it’ll go anywhere now. I’ll attach pics @ bottom, but while they fixed that, I also got some grease fingerprints on the ceiling :sqntfawk: Enjoy the damn pics with grease….. fuck, I called the dealers and they said bring it back on Monday.
:'(
on first two pics, i'm holding the headliner down so i can show u the fix, dont think its not fixed.

Any idea what kind of glue the dealer used? Did they seem to know about this problem right away?
I agree with joganjani - I'd rather not have to use the dealer. If my TL develops the dreaded headliner droop I'm going to fix it myself.
Hope those stains come out. Maybe you need a new headliner now.

Oh that is the last thing I wanted to see! My headliner is going in tomorrow. Fixed once by myself, held for a long time, but then the Velcro backing ripped apart - glue never let go tho. Figure I will let them fix it. I got news for them, if they do that to my headliner - they will REPLACE the headliner - do not accept cleaning of that - it will NEVER be right.
Oh man - I hope I am not posting pics like that next week.

It does not look any different than what was there - the repair I mean. Did they say they used stronger glue or did they just give you a new factory-style velcro - that will come down again in a couple weeks?

For the DIY'er
The product that is used on the headliner to fasten it is 3M Dual Lock. It comes in different sizes and two different adhesives, a general purpose type and very high bond acrylic.
I was able to order the 1" black VHB (SJ-3550) by the yard from here:
https://www.rjrsecure.com/cgi-bin/it...%3BDual%20Lock
I'm going to add some additional, and larger, patches of it along the back edge to reinforce what's there. So far, I only had one patch let go and was able to get it reattached and it's holding. Surface prep is the key to getting the stuff to bond properly.
