Headlights!

My biggest beef with my 2006 TL is the fact that it does not have daytime running lights. I recently bought this car used, and it did not have an owners manual. My question to you guys is this:

If I leave the headlights "on" after exiting the vehicle, will they turn off automatically after a pre determined period?

I have been driving VW's for years and they all had Daytime running lights. If I got in the car at night, the dash lights would not be on which would prompt me to manually turn the lights on. My concern with the TL is that whenever you get in the car, the dash lights turn on. I am afraid that I will get pulled over in some small, out of state town for driving without the headlights on.

Thanks-
Shleprock

yes they do turn off...i am not exactly sure on how long it takes, but if you hit lock on your remote they should turn off instantly and turn back on when you unlock the car...but either way there still is a timer on it

You would also get chiming sounds when you open the door while the engine in off and lights are on. Never had a problem.

I do have problem with people who have DRL's and they forget to turn on their lights at night cause they think it's on because it's illuminated in front of them.

I have day time running lights but when I first got the car I had the same problem at night. I would forget to turn my lights on because everything is so well lit that I barelly notice when they are on anyways. I don't like that system that they put in there. Dash lights should be off when headlights are off. Simple but it works.

Yes they turn off automatically. You can set the delay on turning off your headlights in the "Keyless Memory Settings" on your MID, I believe. read the manual.

The OP doesn't have a manual.

OP, leave your lights on. They will shut off after time set in the MID. Also what I do is press the lock button two times to get a chirp and it shuts the lights off.
