Headlight Question for 06 TL

I just took my 06 TL in to service becaues the driver side headlight was fogging up. Acura was going to replaced it under warranty until they found out it was an aftermarket headlight. They said something about it doesn't have the honda logo on the back or something. I didn't know they made aftermarket OEM replacement headlights for the 04-06 TLs. I called a few body shops to see if they can find these "aftermarket headlights" But all I got was from them is that there isn't a such thing. Any Ideas guys? Was Acura pulling my chain? or if anyone knows where I can get one would be great, I rather not spend 700 dollars on an OEM headlight. I could always reseal my headlights as well.

BTW I can not tell the difference between these headlights and an OEM 04-06 TL headlight.

Yes they are yankin' your chain, there has never been an aftermarket iteration of the OEM headlight on the market.

Did you buy the car new? If so have you ever modified the headlights? If the headlight assembly has ever been opened up and modified (i.e. "cleared") you're on your own. Has the car ever been wrecked and had one or both headlights replaced? Sometimes insurance companies require that used parts are installed during the repair, this may create an issue for you down the road.

If you bought the car used, the previous owner may have modified the assembly or had it replaced.

I would press the issue, make the dealer show you what they are talking about.

when certain parts are installed at the factory, a honda logo is printed on the back/side of the item. For example on the back of the rear bumper cover you will see the honda logo if its factory.

Did you buy the car used? Have any other headlight work done to it?

I bought the car used from a lexus dealership 5 month ago with 40k miles on it. The carfax didn't indicate it was in a accident, the carfax report was very detailed as well. All maintance was done according to schedule. No headlight work that I have known about. The headlight looks just like any other TL headlight.

Did they show you the part with the Honda Genuine Logo? If not, look for the DIY for removing bumper and headlight housing and see it for yourself. If they lie, catch them and make them pay. You can easily call the GM and tell him that your mechanics lie and I feel neglected at buying an Acura again. Only thing he can give you is a oil change and tire rotation (supposedly) voucher which isn't bad at all. If its not there, maybe it faded? I don't remember ever seeing a aftermarket headlight housing, and assuming you haven't cleared your headlights or blackened them which doesn't seem likely.
