Headlight protection

Has anyone tried any of the headlight lense protector overlays? The clear vinyl ones? What brand? Where did you get them? Happy with them?

3M makes the best, IMO. The plastic will still need to be buffed after a while though, unfortunately. Not worth doing this... my .02

Had 3M covers on my fog lights on my tC since they were glass and I had managed to break 2 in the first 6 months I had it. Not sure if there will be much benefit to plastic lenses. Over time, you will need to replace the overlay as they get damaged from rocks and such....which I guess may be cheaper than buying a new headlight assembly.

JnC uses some type of baked on UV clear coat. I believe it's expensive but it's awesome. Def one of the perks of having him redo your lights.

The rest of us have been using 1 part mineral spirits and 1 part clear gloss uv rated spar urethane.

a friend of mine was saying to have a body shop clear them after I touch them up a little. Mine were crystal clear when I got the car and I can already tell they are getting small nicks and pits...

Jnc's coating is awesome IMO. One of the perks definitely.

It's actually my favorite part of my old 04 headlights I had him do. In the sun it shines almost chameleon like in the right angle (similar to oil in water puddles of I've ever seen that)... Really beautifully shiney.
