Headlight Bulbs

I was wondering what kind of bulbs people put in their headlights instead of the stock ones.

My opinion - headlights are HIDS - no need to replace.

for the fogs, you have a choice. If you want to match the HID's, go to hoen's site for bulbs

As for the fogs, I would strongly recommend NOT getting a high kelvin temperature lamp. You're better off with something in the lower temperature range so that the light will penetrate.. fog (that's what they're for, right?).

If you want a lot of light and still be able to see in foggy conditions, consider Philips Premium lamps.

I went with Yellow Hoen All-weathers for my fogs.

I agree with everyone else here. Don't touch your headlights, as they are already HID. I also would not go with high kelvin temp HID fogs, as they defeat the purpose of fog lights.

i have 6000K HID foglamps and they are AWESOME! i use them all the time and it doubled the light output on the foreground from the housings. they also add great coloration to the headlamps not only from outside of the beam cutoff like the projectors throw.
the best vision you will get in bad weather conditions is from a 3000K setup, which is yellow in color.

You must have a lot of fog where you live if you use the fogs all the time. When I lived around Point Judith there was some fog, but not what I would call a lot.

I just installed 8000k bulbs in my low beams, and boy are they sick! The light output is actually better than stock and the visibility is improved. I dont care if scientifically it should be worse than stock, I think they are better. My friend has both 8000k in his low beams and fogs and it looks sick. Ima post pictures in the next day or two just to show you guys the difference

actually you have less usable light, complete waste of money and time upping to anything about the stock 4300K

i have read this and this idea has been drilled into my head endlessly on hidplanet.com. HOWEVER, i replaced my foglamps with 6000K HID's and they are def brighter and provide more foreground lighting than stock projectors, with 4300K bulbs do. i always had the same opinion that you have, but now i disagree. i think that they are not a waste of time and/or money.

As far as light output:
5K 3200 Lm
6K 2800 Lm
8K 2550 Lm
10K 2200 Lm

Halogen is aprrox 1100 Lm, so even with 10000K, you are still double what most people drive with

is there any real advantage to having 19" rims on a car compared to 18's? NOTHING except for astehtics. you decrease your ride quality and performance but lots of people do it because it looks nice. IMO, it is no different with HID K ratings. I must say, anything over 8000K is going to far tho......

it looks like it is brighter, and that is because of the color output, but actually you are losing light. don't you think they would come on the car stock if they were better?

like i said, they are not brighter, but there is a trade off.....looks over performance.
acura could equip the TL with 20" rims too, but they don't because the majority of drivers dont want that on their cars, it's impractical. some members on the board sacrifice the ride quality for the good looks because they think it betters/differentiates their cars. same with higher K ratings, you trade off looks for performance and the majority of TL owners don't even know what a K rating is and could care less if their lights are more colorful, so of corse acura wants to equip the brightest bulb, because they are more safety oriented than for looks/show.

Alright I finally took some pics:
1. 8000k Headlight - Stock Foglights

2. 8000k Headlight - 8000k Fogs

3. 8000k Headlight Only

4. Group picture of me and my friends with 8000k's -- Maxima, Accord, Galant + g35 with 6000k

Next time ill compare a stock TL to a TL with 8000k's to show the difference on the floor pattern and light output

what looks like crap...the color of the 8000k's, the floor pattern and light output he is mentioning above, or your avatar?

It's amazing...some people don't have anything better to say but to make smart comments...if somebody wants to mod their car and it makes them happy, then let them be. If you have nothing constructive to say..don't say anything at all. Sorry everybody...just venting...but if you notice, most of the time rbf351 usually has something negative to say...it's about time somebody calls him out on it.

Ye seriously, relax ur mouth for a second....just because your an immature "27" year old and have nothing better to do then to make stupid comments, doesn't mean that we have to hear them. Grow up and either say something positive or don't say anything at all...I thought you were taught that when you were young...guess i was wrong! Anyways thanks MELIT!

i say negative things when it's needed, and in this case it is. the blue color is completly ugly, and useless. if you wanted to put some type of blue blub in you should go back to using halogen lights.

this forum just like any other is the same, you post a pic of your car or anything else, you better be ready for the comments, good or bad. if you can take it, don't post it

if he likes blue lights, good for him. he is decreasing his Lm output for color and that's his choice nonetheless, i am sure that he turns alot of heads with his lighting setup as far as using halogens, their output sucks to begin with, nevermind reducing it even further by increasing coloration

I was just driving home on the interstate and the light output is great. Everything on the highway, all the reflective signs/paint, was just glowing and I dont believe i lost any lumens. I actually think that i gained because the light output is just so perfect. Ding069, im going to try to get those pics up asap...hopefully in the next day or so!
