Headlight auto-off question with key IN the ign...

Hey guys,

I tried to search first, but all I found was 13 pages on blacked / cleared / tinted headlights!

I have my auto-off set to shut off the headlights after 15 seconds, which works fine, IF I remove the key from the ignition. What about if I leave the key in? They seem to just stay on forever that way. Any way to override this? Where I live (my town as well as my house), the possibility of theft is almost nonexistent. I am very accustomed to leaving the key in the ignition if I am inside for just a few hours or so.

So, can I get these suckers to turn off on their own with the key in the ignition, or is it inevitable I'm going to drain the battery at some point because of the old dog / new trick mantra?

THANKS in advance!

From what I've seen in my own experience is when I've left the key in, my park lights stayed on for an hour or longer without me knowing it. I don't think there's any way to disable this than to remove the key from the ignition lol just lay it in the cupholder

I don't think I've ever of anyone who routinely leaves their keys in the ignition.

There is no setting to over-ride this. Whether there is some kind if electroic mod, I don't know. I don't think it's ever come up.

Just throw your keys on the seat, or switch your headlights off when you leave the car.

As others have said, the only solution I can think of is to throw your keys on your seat.

We're polar opposites. I lock my car when its parked in my garage even though our house is in a great neighborhood and we have an alarm. I'm a nut.
