headlight alignment

Does anyone know what tool I could use to adjust the headlights? There are alignment ports behind each headlight and it looks like there is a gear way down the opening...but what tool makes the gear turn?!

The tool that turns the gear is called a Philips head screwdriver. Just razzing you, and you can read all about it in this thread.

I tried a medium sized philips head but it seemed to slip - that's why I thought it might be something unique. So, I asked the dealer to raise them a little and now I can stop a 747! I'lll get the big one and try it myself. Thanx.

ya, I used a medium to small size philips, had to use a little bit of force to make the teeth catch but otherwise, works well.

The adjustment is very simple. Be careful how much you raise them. Use a guide of some kind like a white wall or garage door, or perhaps a yard stick that you've managed to attach to something to make it stay vertical.

A word of caution. DO NOT raise them any more than necessary. Many states have laws against having them too high and besides.. you don't want to be hitting someone square in the eyes when they're coming at you. If you start getting flashed, then you've set them too high.

I just raised mine a little.. enough to make sure I got sufficient light out to the sides. It's rare when I get flashed.
