Hawk HPS Didn't Fit 07 Type S Brembo?

Per every website, HB530F.570 fits front on my 07 Type S. However, the metal tab on the inner pad would not allow the pad to slide fully into the caliper. After getting everything apart and attempting to install them unsuccessfully, I grabbed the old pads to compare. Notice the tab is straight on the old ones and angled on the new ones...? Also the pad corners are angled. What gives? I am shade tree mechanic noob. So, I am clueless. Any expertise is so greatly appreciated. Did I receive the wrong product? The box has the right part number on it.

So, the original pads had the tab on the inside (closest to the engine) side of the rotor. The new pads only fit with the tab pad on the outside (away from the engine) side of the rotor. I guess the other pads were installed backwards??? I was just going to put the new ones on just like the prior pair. That is got me all confused. Please confirm that I am doing this correctly... Metal tab pad on the outside.

If the metal wear indicator is in the way just take a cutoff wheel to it and remove it. Wear indicators are for people who never work on their own cars and rely on sight and smell to tell when something is wrong with their vehicle.

Here it is per service manual:
