Haters..lol
I got kids at my school taking shots at the TL left and right saying it's "heavy and slow", while I will admit it's not the fastest car, it's definitely not the slowest. To make a long story short I wanna know if I stand a chance against the following;
1) 96 or 98 328i 5-speed MT. With Intake/Exhaust. And I think a drop..? Haven't really paid much attention
2) 05-06 G35 auto. Stock with a drop. I think that's all he's got.
3) 08 Lancer GTS 5MT. All Stock.
4) 06 Altima 2.5. Idk any details about this one yet.
These guys seem to want it the most and I usually just brush it off cause I don't want my insurance going sky high but just for the hell of it, could I race these guys and stand a chance? I got a '04 5at. All Stock.

the 328 5mt will probably get a good jump off the line but i am confident you'll catch up
you will probably be even with the g35 or ithe G will be ahead by a little
Lancer GTS? 168 horsepower. you do the math.
the altima 2.5s you should walk him easily.

Honestly, the only I'd waste gas on would be the G35. The other three should be kills for a 3G TL 5AT.

You will walk all over all of them except the G35. Thats the only one worth it unless you race the others for money, quick cash grab then mod it to beat the G35
Make sure your ESP/VSA is turned off. Hold the brake down hard and keep the RPMs around 1800-2000.
Good luck!

SHIT! no wonder why I was launching so terribly tonight! I had my VSA on the whole time.
With the brake thing, should I keep my foot on the brake while revving in first gear and then just floor it when I launch?

WOT in the new ATLP V2s!

1) 328i: I raced a new 335i down I-90 & took him a few times in my 08 TL-S. Driving skills helped that time a bit, as there were a few cars on the highway.
2) G35: raced one that either had an intake or exhaust & was about 1/2 car to full car ahead a couple times. This was in my 05 TL with drop in k&N filter.
3) 08 Lancer GTS: a joke!
4) 06 Altima 2.5. a joke as well.
so yep, G35 is the best match-up as all others have said. My dad has a G35 coupe with a Nismo CAI but we havent had the chance or he lets off too soon. Good luck! Post vids & pics!

The best part about the TL is that everyone understimates them, I have story after story of "fun" driving. Try to get him on a long stretch, our mid range in the TLs (3rd gear) is huge. If you want a little more advantage make sure you're using premium fuel & have less than 1/4 tank in. Do you have any mods?

He's stock.
G should be close, but my bet is he'll walk you, especially from a launch. FWD vs. RWD, and he's got about 20 horses on you, maybe a bit less.
I personally wouldn't even bother with street racing. It's totally pointless. So you win, you lose. What does it matter?

2) G35: That's sick bro! I used to think our TL's couldn't hang with G's.
3) Lancer GTS: He's my boy though haha. He swears he'll win cause it's a stick.
4) Altima: Good. lol
I'll try man! You do the same when you get a chance with your dad!
Speaking of dad's, could I take my dad's '07 ES350? Not really gonna' try, I just wanna' mess with him. haha

In truth, it doesn't. You're right, but with all due respect I still wanna' do it haha. Can't help myself. It's just one of those things, a phase I guess.

What do you consider a "race"? Side by side from take-off or pulling up next to someone on the highway and seeing who gets ahead? Regardless, be safe, think ahead & be free of distractions. I've had fun against Mustang Cobras, G35s, 335is, IS300s, Maximas, M3s & many more.

The first time I got to see what my 05 TL could really do was on a road trip from Chi to Cali. In Wyoming on a looong smooth straight away with no one around for miles I hit it. I did about 148mph all alone no racing. Once this M3 thought he'd leave me in the dust but much to his surprise i was on his tale...never passed him but literally was like 5' behind him the entire time, which was where i started. He hit it after he saw i was tailing him & i stayed right with him. Another had a Mustang Cobra punch it at a red light where two lane merged into one up ahead, he ended up behind me in shock. More to come....hahahahaha.

Damn, what happened to all that muscle under the hood. Killing a cobra must have been tight as hell since straights are what there built for, right?
It's like a series now haha. Initial D: Izzy Status.

Taken from another forum:
Lowering will indeed make the car "feel different" and you'll perceive it as "better" for your normal driving routine ...where the car is rarely pushed to its handling limits. However, the engineering invloved guarantees that lowering always compromises the suspension geometry to the point where the camber curve is less effective, bump steer increases and tire loads are saturated much more abruptly when speeds increase and the handling limits of the chassis are pushed. Even at normal speeds, handling performance on roads with elevation changes, bumps and wet surfaces worsens as well. Anyone would agree that these things make for a car that handles worse overall, and is further worsened should you not chose to upgrade to better tires as a first step.

Handling is not increased greatly.

I know where you're coming from, but we're not doing it out in the open. We gotta' few back road spots that are barren at night in Poway, Sabre Springs, and Scripps. My insurance is high enough as it is, so I won't be doing this during the day or when there's a lot of traffic around.
Thanks.
