Has anyone had experience in taking off the front bumper cover?

Hey guys,

I am curious if anyone here has taken the front bumper off themselves.
Please post your experience if you have. I want to know how hard this job is.

I have to replace my front bumper cover. I am debating wheather to have a shop paint the cover and I do the install, or having the shop do both the paint and install.

Quote I got for paint was ~ 350
Quote for paint and install was ~ 520

Thanks.

I am sure there is more than 6 bolts under the hood. I have heard there are a bunch of clips, which you have to be careful not to break, and some bolts in the wheel well as well.

Every place I have checked is more than 300 bucks for just painting the bumper cover. The paint out the 3G TL has a pearl effect so they use a special kind of paint which costs more. If you can get the bumper painted for less than 175, that would be considered very very cheap.

Scroll down halfway....

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...e+front+bumper

I've done this twice and its easier the second time, but the first time it took me 45 minutes. When you pull off the bumper it take some force since its clipped on.

Hope that helps...

45 mins on the first try, not bad. After looking at the removal instructions, I think I might be able to attempt this myself.

Hey, good luck with taking the bumper off I think $350 is a lot to take the bumper off. I actually plan on blacking my headlights out and don't trust myself to do it so I might have someone do it for me and I read that taking the bumper off was the only hard part the rest was fairly simple.

I tried taking the bumper off y-day but I didn't have that much time. I was looking for like detailed info on people who did remove the bumper and what pointers they had but no luck. If you do decide to do this yourself hopefully you can help me out too? Thanks and good luck!

If you have an A-spec body kit, do you have to take the A-spec front lip off before you remove the bumper, or will it come with it???
