Wazz Up Everyone! So has anyone driven over 100,000 miles in their 3rd Gen TL? If so do you have any feed back as to how the car is running at 100,000 miles or so. Have you done any major repairs? Have you replaced your waterpump or timing belt? Does the car still feel like when you first got it? I'd like to hear some feedbacks if anyone has anything to share. Thanks in advance.

Still going Strong! Will be doing Timing Chain in April/May/June When I hit 105k. Already did the plugs at 80k. I'll drive this thing till the wheels fall off.

I am at about 104875 so timing belt is in the future. Car still runs good and I just put an intake on there and there is a noticable difference.

im @ 81k on my TL.....are plugs recommended to be changed @ 80k? dealer just had my car a lil while and didnt say anything nor does my car seem like it needs em...

Im overdue for my maintenance. Still on factory pump and belt.
I took a picture earlier this week at 120,120 miles and still going strong.
Had an issue with the power steering pump from the recall. They forgot to change and O ring but all fixed now. Thats about it.

My 05 TL with a-spec nav and 5sd auto only has 22K on it so looks like the 10yr time frame I had may now be pushed back more maybe wife will be able to use it as me coffin

I wish we had a timing chain, that way we would never have to change it. Belts break, chains last almost forever.

OP we all know with the normal work performed on our car, they can have a long healthy life. Here is my thread on my car and what I have done with my car since day one. She gets the miles put on quickly so check back from time to time on the updates....

I'm closing in on 120K with my '04. Did the belt and pump a few weeks ago. I put about 100 miles a day on it, and I think it's running as well as ever. I fixed some of the '04 rattles, and Acura Oxmoor in Louisville fixed the rest. I put on wider rubber and I haven't had a rim strike since. I still grin like an idiot every time I take the wheel, and I plan to drive it until my own wheels drop off.

im at 115k in my 04, doing the timing belt and waterpump with tensioner this week. Since ive owned the car, ive just done brake pads, and replaced 2 axle shafts. Thats it, the rest is just oil changes etc. Car is holding up very good, im gonna drive it until the wheels fall off too!

Changing the timing belt can be a PITA but I have heard of engines with chains have what is called "timing drift" due to the chain stretching since there is no tensioner to adjust for the slack. They say having a belt is quieter but honestly, most people (including me) can't tell the difference. Take the Nissan/Infiniti VQ engine for instance. It has a chain and it is pretty darn quiet to me. My dad is old school and he thinks that auto makers put belts on engines to make money from the labor of changing them. He has a consparicy theory for everything.

True to that and your dad sounds like a lot of people I know. With a timing chain it does make noise but you are right, who can tell? I was told, keep up with the oil changes and the chain will last longer. I know they get slack over time and you will know then as it will start to make noise. I would say the car would have to get up over 200-300k before that happened. You would be on your 3rd timing belt.

3rd timing belt = $3,000-4.500 or so out of pocket (at dealer!)

Your on your 3rd timing belt but you paid for two so its more like 2000.. The first one is free.

I have a 2005 TL and I'm at about 105,000 miles. Other than following my maintenance minder should I be doing something else (timing belt, spark plugs, pumps, etc.). I hear yall talking about doing these things and I didn't even know they needed it. Please advise what yall recommend I should look in to in the coming miles and when I need to do it. I can't thank you enough for your time in helping me maintain a "healthy" car.

Yeah just call your local Acura Dealership or someone that knows about Acura and tell them that you want to do your 105k maintenance.

Hitting 115,000on my 04. Car still strong as hell, though I need to do the timing belt, spark plugs and pumps it's just hard times right now. You know.

So I called my two local dealerships I work with to get some prices. I wanted to see what yall think about these prices I was given. One dealer told me for the timing belt SERVICE (which includes timing belt, water pump, drive belt, and something else below all that) it would be $1,028.23 (that's WITH a discount). My other dealer told me their timing belt SERVICE is $890.00 and that includes timing belt, water pump, and drive belt HOWEVER they have a coupon out for the service at $648.00 ... if the other thing (some tension thing) was needed it would run between $68-$90. Can someone tell me if this is a good deal that I need to jump on or should I check into prices at other local shops other than the dealer?

Also I asked about spark plugs but she said that would come up on the maintenance minder?? Can someone confirm that is correct? Are there any other services other than this timing belt I need to do outside of the minder??

$648 is a pretty good price. Now you have something to compare price to call a local shop that knows what they are doing and ask them what they would charge but that isn't a bad price at all.

At 105,600 miles my transmission went on my '04 TL (AT). After much discussion/arguing with Acura customer services and the dealer, they covered 90% of the warranty cost for a new tranny ($3,000).

I need to do the timing belt, spark plugs and pumps it's just not the best time right now.

I also love the car and hope to drive until the wheels fall off.

kATY those are both good prices... all parts included thats really good the belt tensioner for 90 $ whatever thats fine too most likely youll need it i wouldnt service the belt without a new one.

I have over 129K and I'm rolling strong.
Tranny went out and was replaced at 105K. I paid $138.00 and Acura paid the rest. Timing belt service is on the to do list. I replaced the spark plugs with OEM at 125K. The engine is running silky smooth and I am still getting 25mpg combined city highway. I drive around 370 miles a week and a tank of gas lasts one week.

Correction: the first timing belt isn't "free," but it is included with the price of the car as it comes with one from the showroom floor

KatyTL, I hope you are jumping on that price. It's about half what most dealerships charge, and even if you have to pay a little more for the idler (and I'd tell them to do it and pay the difference if I were you), it's still a terrific bargain for dealer service. Better have it done before they sober up.

$649 is about what most Honda dealerships charge around here for a timing belt, water pump, coolant and drive belt replacement. It is the average "on sale price."

Guess us Texans love the Type-S. Nearing 21,500 miles on an '07 model. More so, my baby just turned over the big 2-0K Jan. 2nd.
