Has anyone disabled the DRLs?

I was wondering if it's ok to turn off my drls by removing the fuse for them. I prefer the nonDRL look mainly due to the crappy color of the bulbs, cheapens the car IMO.

Switch out the incandescent bulbs with LEDs and that'll solve your problem. If you can live with the notification in your dash that your DRLs are off, then you can do that too.

now why would u wanna do that? one thing i love about the TL is that it comes fully loaded and lots of bang for the buck. turning off DRL's gives the car one less "bell and whistle" SMH!!!

I will say it would be cool if we had control of the DRL's from either a switch or a setting in the MID. However, I actually think the 07/08 TL's look kind of cool with the DRL's. Sometimes if a TL is behind my I look in my mirror and something about the front just look cool and with the DRL's on.

I dunno, call me crazy but I think this looks sweeeeet. But yes would be cool if we had control over them.

I was just thinking about this the other day. Having them on a switch would be great. Sometimes I like the DRL's and sometimes I don't.

This is what I did. This way, the switch turns them off. When the switch is on, they are stock. Also shown is the independent fog light control.

Oh, forgot that they don't operate 100% as stock. They turn off when the parking lights come on. If you wanted stock, then just eliminate the middle relay in the diagram.

The middle relay also controls the "on" light on the accord fog switch. I didn't like the idea that when the headlights were on, the DRL "on" light stayed lit. 87a is hot when the accessory becomes hot. When parking lights come on, 87a becomes a ground (which turns off the DRLs). This turns off the "on" light on the switch too. The only time the "on" light is on, and the DRLs are off is right when the car is started. I use my e-brake so maybe that's what keeps them off.

I pulled my drl fuse too, but I have the little light in the dash that the drl are not running. I hate drl's in any car, and wanted to disable them as soon as I could. I would follow the diagram listed , but that is confusing - I am no electronics person!

Such, a waste of battery , running drl's, lights are for dusk and dark man!

I still want to find a way to get rid of the drl's off light in the dash, it is tiny though...

Add the resistors on the positive for the power going to the lights. I believe the positive drl for the driver's headlight is the blue wire and its the yellow for the passenger's.

I still need to do this to get the silly drl light off the dash. I am looking for load resistors and going to take my drl bulbs out. I called Radio Shack and the guy did not have any 50 watt 6 ohm load resistors!

I avoid them completely by always having the full headlights on. I like being able to unlock my car at night and the HID's turn on. Is it bad to run them during the day?

Well, I just hate the drl's period. I know it drains the battery some with them on all the time. I just don't want them on at all. I don't like driving with lights during the daytime.

Drls don't drain your battery anymore then your stereo does. In some cases, if you get in an accident, you could face alot of red tape if its found that you purposely tampered with an OEM safety feature.

I used these to disable my DRL. Free 2 day shipping with Amazone Prime.

So i have 50W 6 ohm resistors to disable my DRL and I have no error on my dash. Does it matter if you use 50w 6 ohms or 50w 2 ohm resistors? Is one better for the system?

The 2 ohm allow some light to pass through.

Oh ok thanks ATLS. So I wanted my stock DRL to be comepletely off and then I spliced into the positive wire on my passenger side right side to hook up a LED hella style DRL. I used the 50 w, 6 ohm resistors.

It seemed like everything was fine. But then one of my headlights turned pink (which I thought that just meant one bulb was at the end of it's life) and now my LED DRLs only turn on sometimes. Do you think I wired it incorrectly?

sounds like you might need a relay harness to hook your "hella" drl lights up to so they get full power

So you added load resistors and then added aftermarket Drls?

Yep, that is correct. I added 2 50w 6 ohm resistors in place of the stock drl bulbs then on the passenger side drl wires i spliced into the yellow wire to get power that went straight to my hella style aftermarker drl lights. It worked fine for a few days then one of my headlights turned pink and the DRL only worked sometimes. The aftermarket DRL sorta look like they are struggling to get enough power....

I was trying to use the diagram in the below link as some sorta of reference but I didn't really understand what the thing at the top that all the wires were feeding into was...

Special thanks to Vladkarnafel and Paperboy on Acurazine.
I have disabled my DRL's and and gotten rid of the waring light DRL in the dash.
I used the 2 50 watt 6 ohm load resistors and disconnected the Sylvania Daytime running bulbs. Connected to the bulb wires and tapped well with electric tape and placing the resistor on plastic or paint. No more drl light and no light in the dash!
Thanks again!
