Hard to locate manual TL

We have been looking for an '06 TL and having a hard time finding a manual with Nav. We have come across very few. Will dealers be less inclined to make a deal since there aren't as many of them around. Atleast that is what one dealer claimed. " They are very rare, so I can't possibly let it go for invoice". Just a line or what ????
Thanks !!

i would say that it is better to wait the extra time and get what you want instead of 'settling' for something sooner...

yep, that's exactly what my dealer told me. It was hard enough to find a 6MT TL w/o Navi, let alone to find one w/ Navi. The good side though is if the dealer does in fact get a 6MT (w/ or w/o Navi) on their lot, you can usually get the car for dealer invoice or very close to it because the dealer knows it's very hard to move a 6MT off their lot. When I went in to get my 6MT, the fleet manager told me it's very rare a customer comes in and asks for a 6MT TL. I think Acura only allots 5% of their TLs to be 6MT. A 6MT w/ Navi would probably be even a smaller percentage.

Like jmbnova mentioned, if you can wait for it, just place an order for the car. But doing that might require some negotiation work on the price.

Yes, I see that they are hard to find now. When I bought my '04 Anthracite/Ebony/6MT/Nav in July '04, Pohanka had six on the lot.. all with Nav. And three of those were the same color combo as the one I bought.

Right now, Pohanka has 134 2006 TLs in their inventory with 12 non-Nav 6MTs and only one 6MT with Nav. Radley Acura in Bailey's Crossroads has 16 6MTs and 7 of them have Nav.

Hmm. I guess since I'm in So.Cal (our infamous freeway gridlock system), most people prefers to drive an automatic.

I'm in the same boat as you, but went ahead and ordered mine. Was given a four week waiting period before arrival. As far as price, there wasn't a whole lot of negotiating from either myself or the dealer. In this area there aren't many Acura sedans at all and they have a hard enough time getting rid of stock. Settled price was 33,100 + ttl. I was able to get the aw mats, Ipod attachment and A-Spec suspension included. These are apparently things already sitting at the dealer having never been installed on a previous TL. I'm already stockpiling my mods for my new baby

luxury car dealerships don't usually keep to many of the MTs on their lot (they think old farts buy them 80 and up) thats what ppl do in FL, buy nice cars 1 or 2 months before dieing

I guess I was confused. I thought the MTs were more popular that is why they are harder to come by. Thanks for all the info.

^-They dont make as many of them and from what I experienced, at least in my area, the MT's were impossible to keep on the lot. The autos on the other hand....could have picked one up with navi for about the same price, if not less, than I got my 6spd for.

I bet if you went to trade in a 6MT w/Nav they'd lowball you claiming "Nobody wants a manual tranny so I can't give you as much as an auto".

That's what I discovered back in Jan '04. I had to order mine from the factory taking exactly 90 days from order to delivery. Also, the rarer your color combo, the longer it could take.

Get what you really want, even if you have to wait for it. This way, you'll never look back afterwards wishing you hadwaited.

If I lived in the Los Angeles area, I would not have gotten a stick.

I've had more than my share of I-405 (The San Diego Freeway).

That might explain why Keyes had about a dozen of them several weeks ago... I don't think I've had ever seen that many 6M TLs at one time.

When I was looking last summer, I called a ton of dealers in the south east and had a few dealers do an inventory search. 6MT w/ Nav was very hard to come by. I found only a handful. When I narrowed my selection to ebony interior, that only left 3, and the same Charlotte dealer had all 3 in the different colors I was considering.

I tried to get my local dealer to trade, but they got refused. A few internet sales manager from larger dealerships also tried to get the trade but were also refused. I guess in this case the dealer had specifically requested the rare combos and knew what they had would sell, so they didn't want to trade. They were probably stocking them on purpose, since they were the only dealer I found in the southeast that had a reasonable collection of 6MTs w/nav.

After giving up on the trade, I took the 2hr drive up to Charlotte and bought directly from them. They were asking a little more than what my local dealer was selling the ATs for, but I got exactly what I wanted and thats what matters most. It was 34ish OTD no financing with aw mats and trunk tray.

Hmmm... my dealership is just the opposite... they can't get rid of the last 05 6mt so they sold it to me @ invoice.

I had to wait for 3months for a factory order because I didn't want to sacrifice a color choice. But I got the car fresh from the truck, still wrapped in plastic.

You had more patience than I. My first choice was RRP (I'm jealous), but none existed, so I got a ABP pre-ordered by the dealer off the truck the following week.

I know exactly what you are going through...

Try finding a 6MT with Navi and add Black with Black... thats why I waited 5 weeks for mine.

Tough to deal when you have to order the car from the factory.

Luckily the salesman took care of me because he was so excited I was adding the A-Spec options to the car I ordered. The entire service dept and sales staff knew me by name by the time my car finally came in . They knew me as the guy buying the Black with Black 6 Speed adding "all the A-Spec stuff". They seemed just as excited as I was to see the fnished car with everything on it.

Good luck.

6MT's were impossible to find in PA and no dealers around here were very interested in helping me find one. I had to go over to a dealer in Ohio who was willling to work with me and they finally found the car I wanted (WDP, Ebony, 6MT, non-navi) in Michigan. Got it for about $700 over invoice.

My dealer only had 2 MT's in stock whe I got mine last summer. They had the obviously slower silver and the "quick as lightning" NBP.

After I left, they only had the silver one..

Not only did I have to order mine and wait a month, no dealers in Western PA had one to test drive. After the car came in 4 weeks later, the finance hottie said "ready to sign some paperwork?". I told her I wanted to drive the car first to see what it was like".

I do think that BMW seems to be one of the only companies that will let you get manual on just about everything. My need for a manual on my next car will pretty much drive me to those guys.

I can't agree more about waiting for exactly what you want.

I did kind of luck out, however... I only waited about five weeks for a RBP/Quartz 6MT with Navi. I'll admit that patience is difficult as time passes.

Yep, I ended up having to order mine. The only 05 navi 6Mt they had was a silver one, and it sold the day after I test drove it. I had to wait a few weeks for the my order to get in, but it was worth the wait
