Happier than expected

I've had the TL for almost a year now the car is better than I expected. This is somewhat of Anti-Post. The gas mileage is great for the power, highway at 28-30+ is astounding; this isn’t supposed to be a civic. I go plenty fast in the car, and if you keep it floored you run out of road awfully fast. I thought the boy racer in me would pine for more speed, but the comfort and radio tends to temper my behavior. I just took the car to the dealer, (the first and only time), to get the temperature ---, software upgrade, and pointed out a couple of small problems, the rear drivers seat map pocket, and ware on the rear carpet most likely caused by my kids. No problem the dealer replaced the map pocket and rear carpet, and treated the dash. My only complaint was the insipid Subaru outback rental car that just once more reminded my how nice the TL is. Anyone else think the same or differently?

Mine will be one year old in a few days. The car is great and I've had no problems to speak of. Just over 15,000 trouble free miles. Biggest problem is not enough traffic free roads in the area to really get it on. Most of my driving is city stop and go. I average around 17mpg here. I have seen over 30mpg on my few road trips. Yes, I would buy the same car again.

Great to hear more of the happy customers of the 3rd Gen. It is true that most people will post complaints more than praises (if they did, then we would have a "Praises" sub-forum).

I love my TL, though it is not a perfect car and has some quirks, I think it's a great car overall and am 100% happy with my purchase.

Good to hear that I am not a minority in this .

My car has turned 2 with about 51k miles and I still love it. Yeah I look at others from time-to-time just to test myself but I would buy the car again, but next time in a manual!

Me too!

I've only had my car exactly one week today...and I'm happier with it today than I was yesterday (while reminiscing about my traded Accord).

I know that overall I'm going to adore the car and have a lot of fun with it...I am just waiting to get through the break-in period and after that I should love it more and more with each passing day.

And hope to love it for a few years to come!

Wish I got a manual too because I'm planing on moving to CA next year. The roads are much smoother there.

Thumbs up Count me in as another satisfied TL customer!

15.5K in 8 months is the fastest I have ever put on the miles of all the cars I owned. Granted it is not perfect, but then I don't expect any car to be. I'm glad I got the TL and would buy it again.

I am so glad I got the 6MT after 12 years of automatics.

I have one of each: an '04 manual (mine) and an '05 automatic (the wife's).

For those who have not made the plunge but will, get the manual.

After 18 months of driving 04 auto non navi. I decided to swap it to 05 6spd manual w/navi. a big difference from local road merge to 4 lanes highway., Can't believe this car catch 80 to 85 MPH in split seconds to use this manual stick shift.

I feel the same way. If I can still afford a TL when this one is old, I will buy it all over again, only in manual next time

I'm approaching the 1 year mark as well and couldn't be happier, and I would consider myself very picky. I just put 1000 miles on the car this weekend driving down to Washington DC and it was a pleasure. Toasty warm seats, navigation that was perfect and vital being I knew nothing!! The XM was a pleasure!! It really shines when you travel between states and you realize that the days of trying to find FM stations in unknown areas is over!! The car just glides along at 85mph with a big smile and a pleasant purr.

I am having winter tires installed on monday(Blizzak WS-50 235/45/17 $622) and hope they make the TL a good winter ride. I think the sweetest thing is the complete lack of brake dust on the rims!! There is never any at all, what a treat. Glad to be amidst many other happy owners

Not to hijack but Rodney, I have TONS of brake dust on my wheels... and lots of people complain about it. I'm guessing you have the automatic maybe? The Brembos on the 6MT shed like crazy.

I think this is a Brembo problem, my 5at has little if any dust. Though my Alfa didn't have dust from Brembo's either, (more likely the wheel design and the fact they were black).
