Hamp Filter

I have been doing a lot of research on oil filters for my 07 tl-s. And so far the filters I would like to use are PUROLATOR P1, PUROLATOR PP, MOBIL 1, and 15400-PCX-004 Honda filter, the only one that I need information on is the JDM HAMP H1540-PLC-505. Are any of you using this filter or is it ok touse on a TL-S. Any info would be apreciated thanks.

HAMP quality is very good, but the filter you've picked is still the newer small can. This means it's gonna have less filter medium than the PCX. I would rather use the PCX S2000 filter...

If OEM HONDA 15400-PLM-AO1 was still available would you still use PCX rather than the one designed for your TL. THANKS

I would because the PCX is larger. Thats great for me becuase I use synthetic oil with extended drain intervels (every 6 months). Also the PCX has been tested to function properly in every aspect for the 3G TL by ACURAzine member Road Rage, and thats good enough for me (since he's the most anal oil person I've seen).

I don't personally use the PCX filter though since getting to the local dealership is very inconvienent. I currently use the Mobil-1 M104 on all 4 of my Hondas. I am planning to cut some of the M104 and M110 filters to compare them to the PCX filters as soon as my next oil change puts a used M110 in my hands.

The Mobil 1 and K&N oil filters are essentially the same filter material.
The cans are a little different with the K&N adding a nut to help remove filter and a round- instead of flat, sealing O-ring.
Thats my preferance along with Penzoil Platinum Fully Synthetic oil 5-30 for my 01TL

94eg I can get the HAMP for $4.50 and the PCX for $9.00 do you still think I should go with the PCX at twice the price. Thanks

At $10 to $12 for the K&N or M1, I rather get the HAMP or PCX. I want to use HONDA products thru warranty period, Thanks

Can you get the HAMP filter for the S2000 for that same price. I believe the HAMP S2K filter is the same as the Honda/Filtech PCX filter. I just like the bigger filters is all. The smaller HAMP one will certainly be fine if your not going for extended drain intervals...

You do not have to use dealer parts to protect warranty- especially when using something WAY better than OE- which may be the cheapest- not the best thing they can buy in quantity- its all about profit!

Since the filter protects the engine by picking up carbon debris and other byproducts of combustion- and many of us go 5000 miles between oil changes
Why would you go with the cheap filter??, for the price of a fancy coffee- upgrade!!

Of course I like aftermarket brakes too, and really really good ones at that!

I am still laughing

Buy a brand new $40,000 Acura and worry about a few dollars more on oil filter

Whats next- can I run 87 or 89 gas as long as I drive it gentle?
uhhh NO!!!

Actually the OEM filters by Filtec (PCX & A01) are considered better quality than most aftermarket filters. It's been proven that the original OEM Toyo Roki S2000 filter had almost twice as much filter media inside as the Moblil-1. And since the M1 is the same inside as the K&N, your money could be better spent elsewhere...

Of course this info is before M1 switched to a new "extended performance" filter name. I have yet to see these cut apart to compare them to the older M1 filters. I have 3 used ones in my garage that I'm planning to chop up and compare (M104 x2 & M110 x1). I just need to find the time...

There are many many filters out there that people say are good but are restrictive and some that have good flow but poor filtration. Maybe you don't have any info on the HAMP or the TOYO ROKI filters, but they are as good as the M1 or the K&N if not better. I was just trying to find out if the small HAMP is the equivalent fo the A01 which at $4.50 if it is the equivalent it is a bargain and is a filter that is designed aspecifically for the HONDA engines.
